Double cowlick in hair?

DD has a double cowlick.  I've actually never seen this before...or ever paid much attention.   Right now her hair is still very short and the hair in the cowlick area sticks up.  I'm trying to image what will happen as her hair grows longer. Will her hair lay flat and straight as it grows?

Re: Double cowlick in hair?

  • i have a ds (don't know about what will happen for your dd) and he has a double one and so does my nephew.

  • My sister has a double cowlick above her forehead each spinning in opposite directions. Her hair is a bit bumpy going straight back into a ponytail but is otherwise relatively flat in most hairstyles. Her biggest disappointment has been to never have bangs. Her hair just will not go over the center of her forehead.
  • DS has a double cowlicks pretty close together in the back of his head.  Left unstyled, he has a natural "Alfalfa."  I've decided the only hairstyles he'll ever be able to pull off are spikes or a fauxhawk.

Definitely let her hair grow out -- don't try to keep it short.  The cowlicks should become less noticeable as her hair gets longer because the extra weight will flatten them out somewhat.  I have a cowlick at the back of my head and another right in front, and my hair is super fine and thin.  They made my hair do all sorts of funky things as a kid until I finally decided to give in and stop fighting them (cutting off my bangs at the root was a big no-no!)

Play with her hair as it grows out and you'll eventually find some styles that work for her.  I bet pig-tails will be your best friend for the next couple of years!  Most importantly -- never let her fall asleep with wet hair.
