Crib Matress

I've decided to go with a foam mattress but they hardly sell any in the stores so I'm looking to buy online.  Any 2nd time moms have opinions on the best?

  • Since no one has responded--I will.  I'm not an expert but I've heard foam mattresses aren't very safe since they're not firm enough.

  • We bought ours on Amazon mom.com.  We got the colgate classic foam crib mattress.  It was $150 but is highly recommended in the baby bargains book and I know several people who have it and LOVE it.  It's light enough you can change the sheets on your own but firm enough to give the appropriate support!

    totally disagree.

the colgate classica was the highest rated foam mattress in baby bargains the year we had ds. it is as hard as a rock.  i would buy an adult size one in a second.  it is also super light - i can lift it with one hand.

we got ours from albeebaby.com for around 100.  i would totally recommend it.

  • We went by the advice in Baby Bargains which is that foam is better than coil and Colgate is the best brand.

  • Foam is REALLY hard.  I wanted the firmest mattress out there for DS and I got the Colgate Classica I.  It's like a board. I actually won a coil mattress on the Ellen Show and I returned it, because it wasn't firm enough for my liking.

I recently bought DS a softer coil mattress now that he is older and the new baby will get the firm Colgate one.
