I keep telling myself "This is normal, it will come back up again."
Blake (our rockstar who's been the show off of the NICU) had to be re-intubated last night after probably a good 5 days on CPAP. And his bloodwork is boarderline for infection. They ran cultures and a spinal tap, I just can't imagine my little tiny boy having a spinal tap. They stopped his feedings too. Not to mention the got grreen aspirations from his tummy before one of his feeds yesterday.
Addison is now going thru withdraws from the sedative they had her on and they decided to give her a small dose of the sedative to hopefully take the edge off. She had the same nurse yesterday that I thought I was pretty clear about not wanting with her again and of course she spent the whole day going in and out of her incubator rather then cluster care, especially on a baby who does not like to be bothered. I feel like I dont get to visit with Addison nearly as much when said nurse is on duty because between her and the nurse she is training there is no room for me when they are fooling with her.
I feel so defeted and I am trying so hard to be strong. I am pumping now and then plan on going to the NICU in time for rounds today and see what they have to say.

Re: And now the rollercoaster is going downhill...
I'm sorry with everything you are going through and feeling. Just because I've been there... Samuel was intubated after a septic workup found an infection in his PICC line a few weeks ago. He was reintubated as a precaution, so he didn't work so hard. He is back on CPAP now. He also had the green aspirate, but that's cause it's hard for those little bellies to move out all that sticky meconium. He will get through it! Before being reintubated, he was on room air and low CPAP settings.. so really, anything can change in the blink of an eye.
At first, Samuel had NO breathing issues. He was a rockstar too. But as the honeymoon wore off, he got tired. He's had to teach himself to breathe again.

I'm sorry you've had tough news. The down rollercoaster days are so so hard.
I'm thinking about you and your babies.
I am sorry to hear that you are not going through a good time right now.
Do they by any chance have your LO on a multivitamin through the feeding tube? This happend to my LO. I walked into the NICU and they said "He has some type of green residual" - It wasnt until the next day we figured out it was the vitamins. the nurse was an idiot!
Good Luck! Keep your head up!
I'm so sorry that all this is happening. I can tell you that my LOs were on and off the vent several times before moving to CPAP for good. They'd go on CPAP, then tire out after a few days and need to be reintubated. Frustrating and upsetting, I know.
As for the nurse taking care of Addison, I would immediately go to the charge nurse and remind her that you do NOT want her taking care of your baby. You are uncomfortable with her, then you shouldn't have to have her as your nurse.
