It's been a while since I've been on this board but we are adopting a little girl now and I've been looking for a carrier for her. Almost every carrier I've looked at has a weight limit for 35-40 lbs, the Ergo is the only one I've seen that says it can handle more weight.
"ERGObaby recommends a weight limit of 40 pounds (18 Kilograms) for its carrier; however, the carrier has been tested up to 90 pounds (41 Kilograms). Our carrier will accommodate you as long as you and your baby are happy using it."
The carrier will only be used occasionally for hikes, Disneyland, etc. Has anyone used an Ergo with an older toddler? Our little girl is 3 1/2, we don't know her weight yet (meeting her for the first time this week) but we really would like to find a good carrier for her.
Re: Ergo for older toddler/young child?
Not really an older toddler, but our 2 year old is very happy in our Ergo.
I imagine though for a place like disney, the 3.5 year old would be happier in a stroller - the she can hop in and out easily if she wants to walk.
You might look at Olives and Applesauce carriers. They have much higher backs and a wider base, perhaps being more comfortable for an older toddler.
