My sisters and I call that show "I didn't know I was a whore".
There has only ever been 1 girl where I genuinely believed that she had no idea, but I think everyone else on there is an absolute moron. I got into a debate with someone on my local nest board a while ago because her sister was in this situation, but I still just have such a hard time believing it can actually happen.

i can sorta believe it. i knew someone that didn't know until 4-5 months. she always had lighter AF and had spotting more or less every month that she was pregnant, so she didn't think anything of it. combine that with an anterior placenta where it makes it harder to feel movement (especially if you don't know you are pregnant so don't know to feel for it) and if you are overweight to begin with, so don't change in weight that much.....
but i still think most people are just in denial.

My sister could have been on that show. She did not know she was KU with her first child because she was on depro provera at the time. She went to he dr because she was throwing up for like 2 weeks. She was 16 weeks pregnant when she found out. I know most of the women on that show don't know until they are giving birth, but if she didn't have m/s then it might have taken longer and my sister is not a whore.

It is definately odd. I have known people in real life who didn't catch on until mid-pregnancy but I've never known someone who was actually unaware until they gave birth. Really crazy!

The few episodes I've seen are just sad to me. The pattern I saw was that a lot of the women were young and without a support system (ie boyfriend/husband, good friends, etc) which makes me wonder if they really didn't know or if they were just scared. But I've only seen a few episodes, so I'm not sure how accurate I am.

I think it's crazy... I just cant seem to believe that someone can be so.. oblivious to the changes their body is going through. I would think they would atleast have the tinniest thought in their mind they could be pregnant.. But I guess it could happen?
There was only one case that was believable on that show- an older woman who was overweight and thought she was going through menopause when her period stopped. I can understand not knowing during the first trimester if your periods have been irregular, but it seems unfathomable that you could go full term and have no clue.

oh, and a lot of the episodes i've seen, they are either married or in long term relationships. i'm not sure how that makes them a whore. granted, i haven't watched more than 4 episodes of it.

I believe it can happen. My mom just finished beauty school with a woman that had that happen to her. She never had regular cycles, and only had a few periods a year. She gained about 10 lbs, but the holidays were in between that, so she passed it off as too much junk food. She went to the ER in excruciating pain and she said to them that she thought she was having a baby. No one in the hospital believed her. She was in the waiting room and the baby just came out, in her pants... The baby only weighed 5 lbs. They said they thought she was about 36 weeks pregnant at the time. The woman and her boyfriend had to have counseling because they didn't know how to cope; they were just in shock. Can you imagine going to the hospital in horrible pain and then going home with a baby soon after and not knowing!? Crazy! Oh, and she was slighty overweight too, at the time, so that could hide it as well.

So yeah, I just don't know what to think when I watch. I find myself believing them, but then just can't imagine NOT at least suspecting at some point during the 9 month period... and if you suspected, I would think you would go to the doctor. If you are having sex, there is a chance you are pregnant. Plain and simple. So I also find myself thinking some of them are not too bright. Just my opinion of the particular episodes I have watched. If you sister/cousin/friend didn't know until ___ weeks/months, I am not calling them dumb.
i saw one where the woman was even POAS and it was coming up negative. i mean, i just think it has to be the "perfect storm" of symptoms (or lack of them).

O FFS people lighten up! It's a joke! Using my own logic, I'm pregnant so I'm a whore too. It's seriously a joke.
For the record I think most of those people are ridiculous. I get not finding out you're pregnant until much later on in pregnancy, but I seriously cannot fathom not noticing all the changes your body goes through.
ETA - the only woman I felt sorry for was the lady who took like 3 pregnancy tests and went to the doctor for a blood test and all came back negative. If I recall correctly she kept going to the doctor and they're like nope you're fine!

I agree, but how can there be enough "perfect storms" to make a tv series? Blows my mind.
It really depends on the situation. I had a NICU clinical and the mother was young, on depo shot and went to planned parenthood on more then one occasion because she felt something wasn't right, and was blown off. She ended up with a 26 week preemie. She was doing things she shouldn't have been for being pregnant but her fault, not really after seeking care. I've seen several episodes and there are a decent amount of women that are old enough where they just thought they were going through menopause.

And not just a tv series, but a series with several seasons!! That's what boggles my mind.

Once the baby is moving, it is nearly impossible to not know you were pregnant. I can't even imagine not knowing that there is a knee or elbow in my ribs. Trust me, you know.

I could see 4-5 months tops. Once you are at least 7 months pregnant, there is no way you couldn't know. But, I can totally could see people finding out late.
I somewhat believe it as well (for the most part) because my mom was on birth control when she got pregnant with me and also had endometriosis, so she didn't know for 3-4 months at all that she was pregnant. She had pains from endometriosis and her periods were being regulated by BC, so she wasn't sure. She did however suspect that she was pregnant and the AF doctors kept telling her it was just the endometriosis pains... she finally went to planned parenthood to confirm it.

This happened to a girl I went to school with. It was her second child. It wasn't long after she was given the all clear after having her first. She went to the hospital one day in pain and had a baby she didn't even know she was carrying.
I think that show is ridiculous and I refuse to believe it is true or accurate. It's just impossible to be that SO many women don't know. I'm not saying it isn't possible because I think it is, but not that many.
When I was about 16 a girl in our church youth group gave birth to her daughter in a toilet. She was only 14 and honestly had NO idea. She was extremely over weight so that hid the weight and when you are larger they say you can take longer to feel the baby kick. Were still friends to this day and iv asked her many times to retell the story and it just blows my mind. I think at 14 its easier to not know whats going on because your less "in tune" with your body. Some of the women on that show im just like... wait, you were sick, had no period, were having unprotected sex and had NO idea you were pregnant???
I rarely watch this show but I did for some reason this morning. The girl on there gained 70 lbs in 9 months. Even if you're not suspecting pregnancy - you should be going to the doctor at some point in there to figure out what the heck is going on. She attributed it the "freshman 15"...
I am addicted to this show!!! I even DVR it so I can watch when I get home from work. For some reason it puts me at ease since all the babies come out healthy, even though they probably drank and whore'd it up their whole pregnancy.
My favorite part of this show (and this happens almost every episode) is when the woman thinks she's just having a bm and goes to the bathroom sits screaming on the toilet while the bf/dh/whoever is in the next room watching the game or something and he just kind of yells to her "Honey are ya ok?" While she wails in the bathroom thinking she has a particularly painful bm. Now I have heard that the feelings are similar but I just think the dramatization they do is HILARIOUS! Personally the whole idea of not know your pregnant makes no sense to me because I knew as soon as I missed my period but I'm sure it can happen especially for people who have spotting.
