We've been trying since he was 4 weeks old to get him to take a bottle. He took one a few times while I was out but now he screams bloody murder. We've tried the Medela, Dr. Browns, and the Breastflow bottles and I really don't want to buy more bottles at this point. He's breastfed so we just need him to take one when I need/want to be away from him for any length of time.
FWIW - we have also tried getting him to take a pacifier since he was born with no luck either.
Re: Any tips to get a BF LO to take a bottle
We've tried when I'm not there and when he's on the first floor and I'm on the third and it's still the same result. My husband freaks out (panics and feels like a sh!tty dad) when A starts crying as he tries to give him the bottle.
FM - I didn't know about the 20 times thing...I'll stop switching, oops.
I don;t have any tips other than not being there and having dh hold LO the same way you nurse?
If that doesn't work you could try a cup?
The first few times I gave DD a bottle she didnt want it either. I put her on the boppy, on the floor, so no one was holding her and squeezed the nipple a few times. She eventually started sucking. Even now though she will not take a bottle if she is already crying, you have to calm her down first.
Good luck! Its the worst if you can never leave the house without LO!
