3 week old skin peeling?

is this common? 

it looks like he is shedding skin or like dry skin but his pedi said lotion is not needed on his skin yet...

    My 3 week old is doing the same thing. His hands, feet, and face are the peeling very bad. My pedi stated that lotion will not help that he is just shedding his skin from being in all that fluid for so long.

    normal.  Their skin regenerates quicker than ours.  They are getting rid of a lot of the stuff from utero still also.  Also notice how quick they heal if they scratch themselves.  Its amazing.  It will eventually stop.
