Hello all! It's been a while since I've visited The Bump, but I need some insight! DD, 20 months old, has been a fine sleeper for a while now. Yes, we have the occasional wets the bed or wakes for no reason nights like the rest of the world, but for the past week or so, she has been either waking up at 4:30am every morning OR, like last night, not sleeping. Last night she went to bed at 7:30pm (her normal routine) with no issues, and at 10:30pm was up and ready to party. She FINALLY went back to sleep at 4am... Yes, it was a LONG, LONG night with lots of coffee (for me, not her - no flames needed). Tonight, we put her down at 7:30pm again, as usual and she is still wailing away. It's been about 30 minutes. I've peeked my head in to be sure that she was OK and couldn't see me because then she would just want me to pick her up. So, I ask you, what is going on?!?! Anyone else experience this at around 20 months?
She has been teething a little, but it doesn't seem to be bothering her too much during the day. About 2 weeks ago she was running a low grade fever with no cold symptoms and was biting and chewing on everything (teething), but no fevers now...
Thanks! xoxo
Re: 20 month old all of a sudden not sleeping at night
Oh girl, I feel your pain. We are in the same boat. I hope SOMEONE on here writes an explanation for this. Our DD goes down around 7.30 pm and is now up at 3am and then at 5-5.30 am
WAY TOO EARLY for this mamma.
WHY do they do that!??!?
and like you said- nothing is wrong with her physically-health-wise
Well thank god I'm not the only one going through this!!
Oh wait - she's not crying anymore!!!!!!!!! WHOOOHOOOO!!!! No one make a peep!
I wonder what is going on with out little ones... Very odd. Oh well, they are worth it!
DS (who is normally a fantastic sleeper) is doing the same 4 am wake up for about a week and it's killing me! I have no idea what the problem is. At first I thought it was teething, he's getting 2 incisors right now, but they're fully in so I'm not sure what the problem is. Add to this he now wants to get up at 6:30 when he would sleep until past 7 before. I'm praying it's just a stage.
He's also taken to screaming at the top of his lungs (happy screaming but screaming none the less) when he wakes up. I have to get him fairly quickly if I want anyone in the house to stay asleep.
I'm hoping you get some good suggestions-these wake ups are killing me!!
