So I conceived my DS on my first cycle of clomid a couple of years ago while seeing an RE. The RE did all the necessary tests, monitoring, etc. Fast forward to now. We're trying for a second, but my insurance doesn't cover RE, so I did 1 cycle of clomid with my OB (I know, I know). I decided it scared me too much, so I made an appt with an RE knowing I'll pay OOP for the monitoring, etc. However, the first appointment they have is next week, and I will likely get my period tomorrow or Thursday, which means if I wait until my RE appoint to start my next round of clomid, it will be too late to do clomid again this cycle and this cycle will be a bust. Should I just get another RX from my OB and start it knowing I'll get the proper monitoring starting next week or would you just accept that this cycle is a bust? Do you think the RE will get super annoyed that I took the clomid before seeing him? TIA!!
Re: WWYD re: Clomid
How long have you been trying for your second? Just because you had trouble and needed clomid with your first doesn't mean you will for sure have trouble getting pregnant the second time. What issues did you have/are you having? (You may know this and you may have been trying for awhile, but I've got no background info. from what you've posted.)
Either way, I would just wait to see the RE. This cycle might not be a bust. You can still try, just unmedicated. If you are not pregnant, then you can go whatever course the RE wants next cycle.
If there is one thing I have learned above all else on this board, it is not to take clomid unmonitored.

I agree to the above. In my 3 Clomid cycles with the OB/Gyn, I was monitored by him in his office. My u/s were coded as PCOS, so the insurance covered it. When the last one failed- and my OB was not comfortable with continuing on with Femara, I made the decision to move on rather than another failed round of Clomid. (Although my new RE seems to think he can get me to O with a higher dose of Clomid- so we will see.)
