Advice-weight gain

Today I am 129 lbs, I started at 122 (5'5) and am only 13 wks 1 day pregnant. Baby is measuring ahead by a week, but I feel like I am gaining pretty fast. Last time I did gain 5 lbs in the first tri with my daughter but overall only 28lbs. I just feel like this time Im gaining more quickly. I am not eating anything crazy either the same-(greek yogurt, salads, soups, the occasional pita chips and hummus, and at night if I want dessert low fat ice cream) You get the idea. No, I am NOT working out, maybe that will help when the weather gets nicer too and I can walk around. I just dont know whats up this time!  ( plus I feel its a lot of gain in my butt and thighs! EEK!) Advice?  Ill try and post a pic later of the bump! :) Anyone w/instructions on how to post a pic?

  • You can post a pic by uploading a pic to photobucket, right click your pic, go to properties, copy the URL then you come here, click on insert/edit image (next to the smiley picture) paste the URL in the Image URL part and then click insert.

  • Honestly, there is no rhyme or reason. Your body gains what it needs and 5 lbs is nothing at 13 weeks. You could be retaining lots of water.... what time are you weighing yourself?

    Maybe you are having a boy! 

    I have the opposite going on right now, I started at 128 and am 133 and am 17 weeks. This pregnancy is totally different. With my DD I started at 134 and gained 42 lbs. Things were totally different, I was eating way too much and not exercising at all. This time I have a toddler running around, am eating better but still enjoying a nice large brownie with frozen yogurt more than I probably should and just going with it! It will all come off again...(wishful thinking) :)

  • It's only two more pounds than your last at this time! You will even out when you can start working out more. We are all naturally more active in the Spring/Summer. Don't worry! You're doing the best you can and paying attention which is most important. I am worried too, of course. I was 130 before and I have gained 5.5 pounds. That was at my 12 week, but haven't gained much more and almost 16. Well I might be a pound or two more, hard to tell. I want to wait to get in there, because it seems like all the scales are diff. and they have a digital weight watchers one (kind weird, but ok). Anyway sounds like you're doing great. GL!

  • I gained 50 with my DD and 15 of it was in the 1st tri...I was eating nothing but fruit. Fruit isn't bad but it threw my sugar consumption through the roof! This time I'm logging what I eat on livestrong so I can keep my diet balanced. Let me know if you'd like to join a group a couple of us have. I think others track food on a different site but I'm not sure what its called. Good luck and enjoy this time!

  • As long as your doctor isn't worried, then don't stress about it.  I gained 20 pounds more with my son (Second pregnancy), then I did with my daughter (first pregnancy).  I lost it all both times.  I measured ahead with my son as well and ended up being induced at 39 weeks because of his size.  I had a lot of fluid with him, plus he was 9lbs 2 ounces.  I am only 5' 3" so that was a lot of baby for me.  But there were no problems and this time, i'm just hoping for a little smaller baby but not so concerned about my weight.
