Anyone with PCOS?

I have PCOS and was wondering if anyone else on this board does too.  If so, is your doctor doing any additional monitoring/testing?   I know that with PCOS, m/c rates are higher because of our wacky hormone levels.  I just went for my HCG test this afternoon and my dr. does not want to see me until the end of this March when I am at 8wks.  I may try to get him to test my progesterone..

I am just getting nervous that everyone seems to be having betas tested and my doctor has not even mentioned a word about anything.

Re: Anyone with PCOS?

  • Yes I have been diagnosed with PCOS and my doctor just had me come in for my second Beta. Depending on these numbers, I will likely go in for my third Beta mid week and will have my first u/s scheduled for the beginning of next week. My doc has also instructed me to continue taking my 1000mg of metformin twice a day. Good Luck!

  • Sh - are you with a regular OB or with an RE?  Should I ask my OB to do multiple betas?  I am so not happy with the care that I have been given.  My OB is the all to common dr who threw clomid at me and told me to come back if/when I got my pd.  Thinking about switching to another one.

  • I have both. My OB is the one running all the tests now and my RE increased my metformin dose and my OB says she wants me to stay on it thru my first trimester. If you aren't comfortable with your OB then you should absolutely look for another. Best of luck.

  • I have PCOS and seeing a RE for now.  Had betas drawn at 14 and 16dpo and I'll have a sono around 6 weeks.  I think I'll go back for another sono around 8 weeks and if there is still a good heartbeat I'll get to graduate back to my regular OB.  I would talk with your OB and see if hes willing to do more blood work and a sono a little bit sooner.  Tell him your concerns.  If not I would definitely seek out a doc that you are happy with.  You deserve it!

  • I was dx with PCOS two days before my BFP. He told me that a)we wouldn't get pregnant on our own and b)I wouldn't carry it to term, so I'm pretty freaked out.  I have had my first beta yesterday, and I'm calling my specialist today about the metformin.
