Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

BCP - Paranoia

So, I got pregnant with LO on BCP. I've been on BCP again since I stopped nursing (when he was 4 months old) ...so I have been on them back again about 10 months.

Recently I've had spotting, nauseau, sore boobs, and my boobs look bigger (umm..DH definently noticed). So i am really paranoid now, even though I did POAS over the weekend.

This can't really happen twice can it? With LO I think I must have thrown up a pill (due the flu) right around the time I got pregnant...at least that is the closest thing I have to an explanation because I didn't forget any pills....

Re: BCP - Paranoia

  • We are expecting #2 in November due to BC failure.  I have been on the same pill for 10 years and take it everyday at the same time.  I even take the sugar pills.  The only explanation I can find is that I am too fat for BC to be 100% effective.

  • I'm sure this is not what you want to hear, but I have a good friend who has 3 kids... #1 and #3 were both birth-control babies. They were different types (pill vs. shot I think) but it still happened to her.

Another really close friend of mine just found out she is PG while on BCP. TMI here, but her OB told her any time she throws up or has diarrhea, to use backup that entire month, for the rest of that pack of pills! Don't forget antibiotics, some natural supplements (like st. john's wart), etc can also decrease the effectiveness of the pill.

I definitely freak out and POAS even when I'm on BCP! Good luck to you :)

  • I did POAS yesterday (BFN) so I don't know what to think.

Nothing strange happened this month- I wasn't sick or on antibiotics, so I'm not sure!

I know (obviously) it is never 100% but I thought after #1 it wouldn't happen again. I am still leaning on the side of not thinking I am pregnant, especially after the BFN...which would be a relief!
