So my EDD is June 24th. My mom and sister-in-law are throwing me a shower. When they asked about when I wanted to have it I just threw out the date April 23rd because I have a lot of other things going on on the weekends at the end of April/beginning of May. When they heard the date, they both sounded surprised and said that they thought that was kind of early to have it. What do you all think?
Re: Too Early For Baby Shower?
Sorry, I meant "shouldn't really make a difference"
I have my 1st shower this coming weekend, I will be 27 weeks, and I think its a tad early. But it was the only weekend both my SILs would be home from school to share the day with me! Next one is not until the end of April, when I will be 34 weeks.
I think it really depends if you will have to travel a significant distance and what you think you will be comfortable with how early or late you have a shower.
I'm due at the end of August and my shower at home with family is Easter weekend, because that's the only time I'll be in town. Its just the way it works sometimes.
I think before 20 weeks is early, anything after that is fine IMHO.
I don't think that is too early...I'm most likely having mine in April as well and I'm due June 13th...
Keep in mind that is Easter weekend... but I don't know if that would keep people from being able to attend or not...you'd have to check with your guests
Eck, I didn't even know you could do one too early. I'm due June 12 and I'm having one of mine this weekend. I live across the country from my friends/family and since this is my last trip home before the baby they are throwing it for me now. I just thought of it as doing what you have to do.
My friends here are throwing me one but obviously that one will be a lot closer to my due date.
I'm due June 20th and having my 1st one March 27th, because we'll be visiting my mom and family out of town.
My second one will be April 23rd, mainly because my best friend is getting married at the end of May and I don't want to do anything during that month to take away from her wedding time (I'm the MOH).
I'm due June 18th and my showers are both in March b/c we live far from family and friends and that's when we'll be driving home to see everyone. I didn't want to do a 26 hour (1 way) drive (with 2 dogs also) when I am really big and uncomfortable. And I have already been forcing myself not to buy anything until after we get back. So if we would have scheduled our trip later I probably would have started buying things myself and ended up with duplicates anyway.
I'll be 26-27 weeks at my showers. I think my bump is plenty big enough to give guests something to ogle at and rub (I've already mentally prepared myself for this) but I won't be too tired or uncomfortable. When DH and I get home with our gifts we will have lots of time to set up the nursery and get whatever else we need. A win-win in my book.
