We used Earth's Best and Gerber, but the Gerber oatmeal mixes up much smoother. I gave DD a bite of my oatmeal when she was about a year and now that is all she will eat. Our pedi said that was ok, but baby oatmeal is fortified with iron so if they will eat that until age 2 it is better.
We use the same thing that we eat.. I posted a recipe on my blog called Purple Porridge, it's one of her favorites
Also, we make an overnight oatmeal with steel cut oats - usually make a pot once per week and we reheat it for her in the mornings. I'll share that one my blog eventually too.. once she starts sleeping again like a normal baby :P
We do steel cut and the girls both love it. I'll usually cook dried cranberries in (the cooking softens them so they're no longer a choking hazard) and sometimes a small sprinkle of brown sugar.
LO loves steel cut oatmeal. Costco sells Coach's Oats, they're delish and cook in 5 minutes. I add smashed banana, brown sugar, and cinnamon. I still have a box of Earth's Best I'm trying to finish, I add it pancake batter for LO.

We're still using Gerber cereal (the mixed grain kind), mainly because this is what's in the house, but I was thinking of switching to regular Quaker oats since that's what I eat.
I feed DD regular quick oats. I add all sorts of pureed fruits into it, but her favorite is when I mix pureed avocados and apple sauce into her oatmeal with a little dash of cinnamon.
