Pregnant after a Loss

Completely terrified

I had a miscarriage 5 months ago and just found out I am pregnant again on Saturday, so I am 4 weeks.  I am so scared I will miscarry again and to make things worse I constantly feel like I am going to start my periodI have lower back pain and some abdominal pain.  Should I be worried about this? My doctor cannot see me until I am almost 10 weeks.  I feel like its going to be a long 5 weeks until my appt!

  • Congrats!

Just try to focus on the wonder gift you have growing inside of you & remember the pregnancy mantra:

Today I am pregnant and I love my baby :)

  • This doesn't mean anything.  At 4 weeks it could be implantation pain, or just nerves.

My doc said she'd see me right away after BFP because of my miscarriage just to give me a little reassurance.  I got bloodwork early and an u/s at 7 weeks.  Maybe call again and see if they can get you in earlier?

Even if they can't though, it won't help that terrified feeling.  You'll end up keeping that and just being able to deal with it better.

  • Congratulations on your BFP!  Lower back is a common PG symptom.  I had tons of lower back pain.  PgAL is very difficult.  The last few weeks have been very tough for me also. I try to take one day at a time.  I hope you LO is growing strong and healthy!  wishing you H&H 9 months.

  • Congrats and welcome! Just take each day at a time, it will be hard to relax and get excited for a while, maybe even not until you have your LO in your arms.

The pain you are feeling sounds normal but if it becomes unbearable, see if your doctor can see you early. Are they going to run a couple beta level tests to see if your numbers are doubling? Best of luck! Sticky dust:)

  • Congratulations and welcome.  Everyone on this board knows just how you feel, and I am feeling the same way.  My first appointment and ultrasound isn't until March 21st, and every little cramp freaks me out, and then when I don't feel anything I freak out some more.  I had two miscarriages before the birth of my son, but when I was pregnant with him I found that once I passed the point where I had miscarried (weeks 6 and 8) I was able to feel a bit more confident and excited, although for me the anxiety never really went away until he was in my arms.  Hang in there though.  It does get better!

  • (((Hugs))) Just try to take it one day at a time.  Some cramping really is normal even though it is scary.  It's just your uterus stretching out to help make the baby comfortable.
