Washing a brtiax car seat cover ?

My DS threw up a lot all over his car seat. When I read the directions on how to clean it says hand wash and to not put in washer. Well I hand washed it and it still stinks bad. Has anyone had experience w/ cleaning a mess like this?? I really just want to throw in the washer. The actual car seat shell stinks bad too. If it wasn't so much money I would just throw it out and get a new one, but it was too much money. TIA!

    toss it in the wash on a cold & gentle cycle- it's fine. just make sure to let it air dry.

    alex peed all over hers the other day & there was no way i was hand washing it. i washed it in cold water on a gentle cycle & let it air dry. good as new.

    I washed mine on gentle and let it air dry- looked and smelled brand new afterwards!

    Allison puked on hers too. I threw it in on the gentle cycle and sprayed down the shell. You can clean the straps with baking soda paste.

    Ditto PPs :) I've done it many times (all our car seats are Britax) and they always come out looking like new. Gentle cycle, cold water, air dry.
