To get started, DH and I have been TTCing since the beginning of the year, and we are not KU yet. We may have to put things on hold because of this health issue. My feet, toes, and fingers have always been colder/calmier than the average person. At times, my feet and toes get discolored if I sit down for too long. This is just the way it's always been for my whole life. In the late fall I started having pain in my two big toes. At first I just brushed it off like no big deal, then my left big toe started to get a dark spot on top, and it wouldn't go away. We thought maybe I had an ingrown toe nail. I went to the podiatrist who said it wasn't an ingrown nail and suggested that I have something called Raynaud's syndrome which is an extreme hypersensitivity to cold. He didn't make a big deal out of it and told me just to wear extra socks and try to keep my feet warm. If it didn't go away in 4 weeks I was supposed to go back for another appointment and then he would refer me to a vascular specialist. Well I already see a vascular specialist because I have a varicose vein removed in August of last year. As it turns out, my 6 month checkup was Friday, so I just decided to ask him about my toe while I was there. At first, he thought that the podiatrist was wrong, and that I did have an ingrown nail. Then he saw how discolored my feet got and how cold they got as I sat there. He recommended that I have a blood pressure test done. The results of all this is that my left toes don't receive enough blood to register on the blood pressure monitors. The doctor wants me to be extremely careful about my feet because essentially there's not enough blood in my toes to heal any type of injury, so an injury could easily lead to infection and possible amputation. He sent me for a ton of bloodwork that hasn't come back yet. He believes that I may in fact have Raynaud's, but that I may only be affected by this in the cold weather. I am definitely going to seek a second opinion, because this is life altering IMO. Now I'm completely on edge every time I walk around b/c I'm scared that I'll injure my foot. Now for my question (which I didn't get to ask the doctor, but will definitely do so when I seek my second opinion). I know that pregnant woman sometimes have circulation problems, especially to their feet, in late pregnancy. Will this be even worse for me? Perhaps to the point where my doctor will advise me not to get pregnant???
Re: XP: Circulation Problems, will they get worse in pregnancy? (Long)
I know very little about Raynaud's syndrome, but I always understood it as something that was supposed to be followed by a cardiologist.
IDK what the answer is, but this would be a much better question for your OB/Gyn. GL.
Me = lean PCOS;DH = poor morphology (3%)
3 IUI/TI cycles = BFN
IVF #1 with ICSI: antagonist protocol = BFFN
IVF #2 with ICSI : Lupron downregulation = BFFN...FML
IVF #3 with ICSI and AH (Antagonist) = IT'S A BOY!!!!
Hi !
I also have Raynauds. It only acts up when it is cold and my fingers and toes turn white and purple and go numb. My doctor told me it was nothing to be concerned about. She also gave me an in office test (not a blood test, just a little test during my physical were she banged on my feet and did other things. Not sure what she was doing) which told her that I had great circulation, I just happen to have Raynauds.
Also, my mother has it as well. She had no trouble getting pregnant or staying pregnant with me or my brother.
Hope that helps!
