OB said wait 6 long weeks.. we will see if we can wait that long! I thought I wasn't suppose to be in the mood after birth.. but I am.. Sorry if its TMI.. lol
Well, I had a vaginal delivery, but I gotta say... I must be the only woman on the board who ISN'T jumping at the chance to get busy with DH. He's ready, I'm not. I'm tired and moody and not looking forward to energy-draining dry sex.
I am wondering the same with those who had vaginal delivery...I am still bleeding a bit and plan to wait until that stops. I am just amazed that with stitches in my bum I am not only thinking about sex but SERIOUSLY desiring it! Who'd have thought?? I have the dissolvable stitches, but can't see them (maybe I didn't look hard enough...it was kinda scary down there!), so how will I know when they're gone??
When we were leaving the hospital, in a discussion about BC, my midwife asked if I planned on having sex before my 6 week check-up, so I took that to mean that it was ok to do so. She said, "if you do, just use condoms." So I don't think you HAVE to wait the full 6 weeks. I figured I would wait until I was ready, but didn't plan on being ready after only 1.5 weeks!!
I have heard that breastfeeding can lead to the desire to have sex - probably due to the constant nipple stimulation.
How long have others with vaginal delivery waited to do the deed??
My OB's office suggests waiting at least 4 weeks in their discharge paperwork for a vaginal delivery, and 6 for a C-section.
I had a relatively easy vaginal birth and my bleeding/discharge is clearing up well... I think I'll just barely make it to 4 weeks (I really want it!). My OB gave me a script for the mini pill and wants me to start taking it before 4 weeks so I think she pretty much figures I won't be waiting the full 6 weeks.
Dee,
Mommy to: Sofia, born 2/9/11, as well as three dogs, two cats and a multitude of chinchillas.
We are SO ready now, and for that matter the past two weeks. After a long labor, I ended with a C-section. I am feeling good and my incision as healed really well. Now that we are at 4 weeks it seems like another 2 will be forever. My OB was very insistent that we wait until my 6 week check up.
