::Chicago Weekly Check-In::

(sorry about the spacing, I tried several times to fix it and couldn't get it, do you have any suggestions?)

Welcome to this week's Chicago Bump Check-in!

If you want to be added to the check-in, please respond to this post and let me know what brings you to the bump (Do you have a DC? DD or DS? Date of DC's birthday? Are you pregnant (how far along) or TTC?), whether you live in the city or burbs (give me a direction: N, NW, W, SW, S).

Also, pregnant ladies: keep me updated if you move from team green to pink or blue! And let us know when your LOs arrive! We have a due date that passed and some coming up soon! :)

And finally, some shout outs, hugs, etc.:

Do we have a date set for the Suburb GTG in March?

Congrats to magdalenamtz on the arrival of your little girl!

ScarlettBlue - did your little girl arrive?

MrsDrCook - did your lo arrive?

We'd love updates when you can.

QOTW:

Is there a song, or a musical genre, that reminds you of high school? Is there a paticular song that you would be fine with never hearing again?

Re: ::Chicago Weekly Check-In::

  • Anything early Mariah Carey. I remember when her music came out I was amazed by her voice. I never need to hear I like big butts. Ughh.

  • Hmmm.... songs that remind me of high school include:

    The Sign, Ace Of Base
    I Swear, All-4-One
I'll Make Love to You, Boyz II Men
The Power of Love, Celine Dion
    Hero, Mariah Carey
Stay (I Missed You) , Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories
    Breathe Again, Toni Braxton
All for Love, Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting
All That She Wants, Ace Of Base
Don't Turn Around, Ace Of Base
    Bump N' Grind, R. Kelly
    Again, Janet Jackson

Songs that I don't care to hear again... anything from NKOTB. They remind me how crazy I was about NKOTB during that phase. LOL!

  • Loading the player...
  • The entire Ludarcis - Word of Mouf CD.   My best friends car was named Ghetto 2 and we used to jam to this CD to and from school, just about everyday.  We even coordinating hand motions to certain songs, lol.

    Nelly - Country Grammer

    R Kelly - Ignition

Missy Elliott - Pass the dutch, work it and this is for my people

  • Good Morning! The answers to the QOTW have me laughing! I can actually tell you what year I was in high school when I hear certain songs! The other day I was in the car with DH and we heard "How Do I Live" song by Leann Rimes and I said, "this song came out around the fall of my senior year!" LOL, I am a dork!

And, if I never heard Alanis Morrisets (sp?) album with Ironic and other similar songs, I would be VERY HAPPY!

  • Awesome QOTW!!!

Is there a song, or a musical genre, that reminds you of high school?

    Let's see...

"I'll Never Break Your Heart" by The Backstreet Boys,
"Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears,
    "Ms. Jackson" by Outkast,
"My All" & "Honey" by Mariah Carey....

I remember coming home from school and watching TRL with Carson Daley. hahaha.....oh the memories. I think I'll have to listen to some of this today at work. :-)

Is there a paticular song that you would be fine with never hearing again?

hmm...oh, I could go without having to listen to that "steal my sunshine" song...

and the song that goes "I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch....chinese food makes me sick"....haha.....

  • My favorite artists in high school were the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and the like.  BSB was the biggie, though... I still love all their hits from that time, especially the Millennium album.

Also, you can add me to team blue!  We had our 20wk ultrasound last Friday and found out we're having a little boy!

  • To answer the QOTW: The first song that I think of when I think of High School is Green Day "Good Riddance" (aka : Time of your Life), but I don't know if it was my junior or senior year that that song came out. I also think of BSB, maybe N'Sync was big then too, (everything starts to blend together) Also, Chumbawamba Tub Thumpin (is that what it was called?!). There isn't really anything I would be fine with never hearing again, but I can only tollerate Ace of Base "I Saw the Sign" so many times a year :)

  • I'm probably really "dating" myself here but grunge and alternative were very popular when I was in high school. Pearl jam, nirvana, depeche mode, alice in chains, bush, counting crows, blind melon, nine inch nails, no doubt, oasis.

  • My due date 8/15/2011

Musical Genre - House Music (I'm originally from Chicago) we would go to Medusas for parties. I remember Lil Louis parties at the Bismark Hotel which I think it's the Cadillac Theater now.

    No particular song.

  • Hmm..I would say songs such from those like Vitamin C, Nelly (back when he first came out), Sugar Ray...ah, those were good times. It was also the time when Aerosmith's "Don't wanna miss a thing" was played at every single dance.

Oh and the husband and I just found out that we are on....

  • Yay! This is a fun question! :)

It's a wide range that makes me think of high school: from the first Pearl Jam album (Ten) and Nirvana to that Life is a Highway song and I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. Oh yeah! And Ace of Base too. Yikes I'm old!

Song I could do without ever hearing again? That's difficult because I like so many different genres, but maybe Mmm Bop? I think I could do without that one. ;)

  • Pearl Jam - better man
