Two Under 2

tips for handling morning/breakfast?

I've had lots of help with my two under 2 so far, but that will be gone at the end of this week and I'll be on my own for the first time.

The thing I'm most anxious about is getting both babies up and fed breakfast, because they seem to be waking at the same time every day, both starving. I'm nursing the baby.

My toddler wakes up in his crib saying "eat, eat, eat" so delaying breakfast for him while I nurse is not an option...and I don't want to end up serving him frozen waffles every morning. He's used to a hot breakfast (eggs, oatmeal, etc) just about every day.

Any tips for the morning rush?

TIA!

Re: tips for handling morning/breakfast?

  • If they've been waking up at a certian time each morning you could get up early and fix your toddlers breakfast before he wakes up and have everything for him already set up at the table/high chair.
  • Loading the player...
  • weelicious.com has some great make ahead options that you could just warm up and serve.  There is a breakfast section to sort by under the recipes tab.
  • I get the boys dressed and then I go make DS1's breakfast before DH goes to work. He helps me get them set up at the table and then he leaves. Then I feed the baby while the toddler eats.

  • I prep DSs breakfast before wakeup. I've also learned how to position the baby on my lap with a leg propped and hold her with one arm/feed her while spoon feeding DS oatmeal at the same time. You get used to it.

  • What I do is have a rocking chair in their room and the very first thing I do when they get up is pick up the baby and nurse him while I talk and sing to my toddler (who is still in his crib).  Then, I put the baby in his highchair (since yours is so little still, maybe a swing?) and pick up my toddler and put him at the table and make/serve breakfast.
