Pregnant after a Loss

Visited my friend today who just had a m/c

My friend m/c this week at 9 weeks, right after her first appointment. This was her first pregnancy and she had been trying for a very long time. I knew how much it meant to me to have people to talk to who understood, so I asked if she wanted me to come by and she said yes. I also gave her my huge supply of ovulation and pregnancy tests because she had asked for those too. I felt bad going over there because I know how hard it is to be around pregnant people when you are going through a loss, but she said she wanted me to come over so I did. I feel so bad, she was trying to be really positive the other day on the phone, but she broke down when I was over there. We talked awhile and I hope I made her feel better and not worse. I hate seeing someone I care about in that position. It's a terrible place to be. I hope she knows that I am there for her when she needs me.

  • You are a good friend for being there for her. I know having supportive people who loved me was the only thing that got me through my most recent loss. I'll be keeping her in my thoughts.

  • You are such a great friend.  It is so nice to have someone talk to you when you are going through such a difficult time. I wish more of my family members were open enough to talk to me about my m/c. I had to rely on counselors.

  • You are such a great friend! I am sure she really appreciates you talking to her. It is such a hard thing to go through, I wish I had a friend IRL who I could of talked to about it all, one who truly understood how I felt.

  • It was good of you to come over.

FWIW, literally the day that I m/c I had my bff over (she had planned a trip cross country months before).  She was 20 weeks pregnant at the time but had suffered a m/c with a previous pregnancy.  Being able to talk to someone who "got it" in person was priceless.  Kind of hard to believe that she's now ~36 weeks and I'm now pregnant again.

  • You are a wonderful friend.  As long as she's taking the lead on letting you know what she wants from you, I think you're good.
