Trouble TTC

AHHHHHH!!!!

Seriously, this IVF BS just keeps getting worse and worse.

I guess I've used up all of my IVF benefits for this year already.  I know our benefits only cover 4 retreivals, and that's what I was focusing on and unfortunately I really had my heart set on one and done. Next IVF is going to cost over $10,000.

The benefits coordinator kept asking if "that's ok?"  No, biitch.  That's not ok.  It's not ok that some stupid little girl that doesn't want children gets KU no problem, but I've got my shiit together and it costs me thousand and thousands of dollars.

I think I'm gonna go throw up then cry in a corner for the rest of the day.

Screw you, IF.

  • I'm so sorry, hon.  I am an OOP IVFer so I can understand your frustration.  I think this all the time.  If I had not waited until I had a job, a husband and the stability to raise I child, I could have probably had one without a problem.  Now that all my ducks are in a row, I am spending thousands and thousands of dollars just to have a chance.  The thing is if I knew this all would work out, it wouldn't be so hard.  If someone could tell me that my third IVF would get me my beautiful baby, then it would all be worth it.  ((HUGE HUGS))  I hope things work out for you, hon.  Good luck with this cycle!!

Just a question.  So your insurance covers upto 4 retrievals but has a maximum annual limit?  So, to have your IVFs covered you would have to space them out over four years?

  • I'm so sorry Glow!     It really is crazy when you think about how insurance doesn't cover a lot of these treatments.        It is a medical issue - so IMO it should be covered.       Good luck to you!

  • Oh Glow I'm so sorry. IF does suck the big one! You should have told her that if she asked if 10 G's was ok one more time then you would ask her to pay for it and if that would be OK. I have had several "it's so not fair" moments these last few days and I'll just never understand. ((hugs hugs))

  • Ugh, I'm so sorry Glow. ((big hugs))

When does your new "year" for IVF benefits start over again? I'm guessing it's not a calendar year. Maybe if the new year starts soon you could wait to do another cycle, that way it wouldn't be OOP for you.

  • I'm so sorry Glow:(  IF is stressful enough, but to add the strain of financial burden is so unfair.  ((Hugs))

Ah, yes.  Benefits will roll over 01/01/2012.  I blew my entire 2011 benefits in one stupid, failed cycle.  Spectacular.

Thanks for your support, ladies.  The past week would have been absolutely unbearable if it wasn't for you all.  <3

Aw man, I'm so sorry Glow. I didn't realize that. I hope the dr's office has some options for financing. Hang in there. ((hugs))

  • I agree! I have no IVF coverage, so we have to pay 100% OOP if we do IVF. Which is exactly why we haven't done it. We have started saving, but it takes a while to save up that kind of dough. And now our $4000 tax bill isn't helping anything either! UGGHH! I HATE IF!
  • I hate that, Glow. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Isn't it funny that some "kid" can get KU and get on Medicaid, WIC, and Foodstamps to help support her accident and those of us who are financially stable and want a child don't get any help at all?!? How f***ed up is that?

I hope you are taking care of yourself. I think a trip to the spa is in order. ((hugs))
