Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Question for those who have lived through the 4 month wakeful.

When did it end?!  DD has been going through it for the last week.  For the last few nights she's been up every 2 hours or more.  And she was wide awake for 2 straight hours too.  I'm dying!  I have a toddler who wakes up at 6am for the morning and the girls don't nap at the same time.

Can you give me an idea of how much longer I have to go through hell before I might actually get some sleep again?

  • I can't wait to see the responses...I too am still in the wakeful period. DD didn't start until a week before 5 months and is still going 3 weeks later.

Some nights are getting better like being up twics but last night was back to every 2-3hours. She wants to eat and nothing else will get her back to sleep.

  • Hey SP.  I've got no help to give but Sadie has hit it early and is driving me bonkers.  Up every 2 hours on the dot.

    Sadie is not impressed.

  • Val I have no idea how you are doing it while working.  Em went through it while I was working and I know I managed but I don't remember how.  lol  I think I blocked it out of my memory because it was that bad.  And DH was actually in town to help that time.  He just left on Friday for 3 weeks.  I think he planned it now that I think of it!!!
  • We are in similar situation...up every 45 to 90 minutes, nothing but boob will settle her back down. I've resorted to bedsharing after the 4th rousing. I don't know how much it helps, but at least the house gets more rest.

Sorry no answers. I'd like to know how the "4 month wakeful" presents in other kids - as I noted above, we get the frequent feedings, but not so much of the "I want to play side".She is also napping great and eating pretty well. What I mostly notice is that she always seems to be tired - at least she is always rubbing her eyes...

  • Yeah I give DD the boob at every waking too in hopes that she will go back down.  It works for the first few, and then she's up for the long stretch.  After I brought her in my bed last night she was up every hour.  lol
  • I don't know when it ends, but we are three weeks in right now.

  • I have no idea when it goes away. I would like it to go away soon though. I think we've been dealing with it for a month. I'm not having fun.

I bedshare with my boob out all night long, lol. And coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

And thus far, LO hasn't heard of the 4 month wakeful.
