  We got the type of mattress that is for a crib and toddler bed - it flips so one side is pretty firm (for the crib) and the other has springs (toddler bed).

  This. Its foam and its 100 bucks.  Or maybe the 100 sealy at BRU, but more likely the foam one.

  We haven't bought our yet, but we're learning towards the Sealy Perfect Rest crib mattress.  Right now it's $75.95 with free shipping on Amazon.com.

  We're also looking at the Colgate Classica, which is highly rated by Baby Bargains.  However, it's almost twice the price of the Sealy option.

  We got a Sealy. Nothing too fancy, but the price was right and it was firm.

  We purchased the Serta Perfect Sleeper from Babies R Us.  It is a crib mattress and then can be used for the toddler bed as well.  It was $99.99 and got good reviews.
