Ella Joy, Belated Birth Story

So she is almost 2 weeks old and I am just now getting to this.  The last couple weeks have been a little hectic.

My water broke on Valentines day about 11:30 pm.  I was not prepared for how much fluid there was, it was crazy none stop gushing.  It took about 45 minutes to for it to stop enough to get dressed to head to the hospital.  My parents came to watch our DS and we headed to the hospital.  I was not having any contractions so was comfortable all the way there. 

I was dialated to 3 when we got there and shortly began having contractions.  I waited to get my epidural until I could not handle them any more.  Around 12 noon, the nurse said we were 9-10 and called the Dr to tell her we would be pushing soon.  4 hours later we had made no progress and were still not pushing.  We had called our family to go ahead and bring DS down after school because we had thought we would have a baby by the time he got there. 

At 5:30 they did a shift change and a new nurse came in and told me I was only 6-7.  I started crying, I was so exhausted.  We sent my DS out for dinner with our family so he didn't get bored.  The dr came in and verified I was only 6 and started discussing C-section.  I was hooked up to monitors for a half an hour and even though contractions were strong I was not progressing so we decided to do a C-section. 

Our beautiful baby girl was born at 7:00 PM weighing 8 lbs 8 oz and 20.5 inches long.
