On Friday, I was positively giddy thinking I had beaten this awful sickness that's set up shop in our home.
Not so fast, silly girl!
Yesterday I woke up with a mild fever again (100.2), the chills followed by sweats, total loss of appetite, & a newly-added deep, manly cough. Since I'd been dealing with this garbage for 3+ days (started Tuesday night), had been using Tylenol every 6 hours & STILL wasn't making progress, I decided it was time to check out our local ER.
Where I got the second briefest physical I've ever seen (the most brief was today when DH went in to finally treat his badness). Thank God for my doppler--I've been listening to LO more often since this started & s/he seems to be doing okay. They didn't check on him/her at the ER (unless you count a little abdominal poking & prodding), but they knew that I'm pregnant so they prescribed a "safe" antibiotic & told me to continue with the Tylenol & Robitussin DM as needed. (Of course, after waiting for hours at the ER & then driving to the next town over to get to a pharmacy, we would miss it closing by 7 minutes. 7 minutes!)
So, now I'm on azithromycin/Zithromax. Which is category B & seems to be just fine to take. But I was wondering if anyone else has had experience taking this during pregnancy? I HATE being on all of these meds, especially since this baby had been drug-free up until this point. But if DH is still dealing with his sickness 10+ days after it started, I don't know what would happen if I didn't try to tackle this now...
Ugh. Thank you for listening. The good news is that I've been feeling better today...well enough to get a shamrock shake on the way back from our pharmacy run this morning. And, speaking of green stuff, if any of you can figure out a market for green slime, I swear I could make a fortune with the gold mine in my lungs & sinuses...I'll even cut you in.
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend & take care!

Thank you for your kind words, ladies!
Yeah, the nurse who first checked me in yesterday basically said "sucks to be you".
But dealing with this doesn't bother me as much as worrying about LO. Our anatomy scan is next week, so we'll get to check on him/her soon. But still...
And I have given DH express orders that if he finds out which student gave him this disease, he is to fail them immediately & without question. And if he finds out that it was a faculty member instead, they get punched.
Thanks again!

I didn't think Robitussin DM was a good one. I thought only plain old Robitussin?? May be wrong.
It is better for you to get healthy than wait it out! I had MRSA while pregnant with DS and was on some crazy antibiotics and in the hospital for other drugs. I had to have a huge spot lanced...and I chose NO drugs. It hurt like the dickens, but little man didn't get any meds
The OB's office & the ER doc both told me that the Robitussin DM was fine. I've only been using it when I have to (i.e. when my chest starts to hurt from the coughing), so it hasn't been constantly in my system. Hopefully we won't need it too, too much longer now that the antibiotics are on board!
And, holy cow, I couldn't imagine having MRSA! Nevermind while you were pregnant! I'm so glad that everyone made it through that healthy.
Thanks again for all of your support, ladies!
