Re: advice needed re breast feeding...
Hand express to take the pressure off--google it to find a diagram.
Or run and buy a cheap hand pump on your lunch break.
Can you do some hand expression to get you through the day? Is a hand pump an option for you? Can you run at lunch and pick up a hand pump? I think they are much cheaper than an electric.
If you are hoping to make it to a year or something and need a pump to get you through for a little bit, you might try contacting your local La Leche League. My LLL group has a pump that they loan out to women who need a pump for a short time. It cost $20 to buy the tubing and whatnot to use it, but it is a nice service. Also, my WIC office has pumps they allow people to use. Typically you have to be a WIC recipient but it wouldn't hurt to call and explain your situation and let them know you just need a pump for a short time. GL
Do you have any friends that can lend you one? How about craig's list or ebay?
I'm not sure how much formula costs but the pump may come out cheaper.
First, you should be SO PROUD of yourself for being able to breastfeed and work full time! I know from personal experience it is very HARD TO DO!! GREAT JOB MAMA!!! You have given the best to your baby!
As far as the pain, buying a little hand pump does help. It releases the pressure just enough to buy yourself some time to wean slowly. But the hard part is the more the pump the more you produce (but you knew that already). So slowly dealing with the pain is your best best. I bought a Medela hand pump for around 25 dollars and it has been my saving grace for when I was swollen and didn't want to get my electric out.
Best of luck to you, and Great Job Mom, your little one is lucky to have such a caring mama!
