Pregnant after a Loss

I know it's irrational but

I have fly a couple times coming up(I'll be 8 weeks and 10 weeks) and I know it's perfectly safe but with everything that all of us have been through, I'm kinda scared...tell me to snap out of it please?

Re: I know it's irrational but

  • Wait???  How did i miss your BFP???  Congrats!!!!  So glad to see you back here!

Well before i had my losses and developed irrational fears i went on a cruise and flew between 10-11wks.  I was A-OK.  Yes  Hope it makes you feel better.

  • I won't tell you to snap out of it (because we've all been there - I was worried about going to a rock concert at 9ish weeks;), but I'll tell you to hang in there. ((hugs))

  • Congrats!!

I have never flown pg, b/c we're boring and don't go anywhere, but know that you'll be fine.  My only worry about flying at that time would be having a bathroom available for the gazillion trips I would need :)

  • My RE (before we knew about the MTHFR issue) told me to take a baby asprin before the flight, and then get up and walk around once every hour.

With this PG, I'm already on blood thinners (Lovenox), so when I flew at 7 weeks (2.5 hours flight) and at 11 weeks (5 hour flight), I just made sure to walk around once each hour.

  • I didn't fly but did do a 14 day trip in semi trucks at 8-9 weeks without any issues.  I was so scared for my next u/s that I had done something wrong, but it was all ok.  I think you'll be fine!!

  • Congrats!!!  I think I missed your BFP too.  So excited to see you over here.  I would be nervous to travel too, but my RE and OB both said it was fine.

  • ((Hugs)) I'm actually totally there, so I can't talk you down. We've decided no flying, even though we like to travel, just in case. But I know it's not a real risk. I would just mention it to your doctor and they should reassure that it's fine.

  • (((Hugs)))  You'll be fine.  I flew overseas at 6 weeks and back home again at 8.5 and we made it just fine!  Just make sure you take some plane friendly snacks to help you with m/s.  I also carried my Tea Tiger and Yogi Ginger Tea to help with m/s on the plane.  It made those iffy moments a lot easier.

I actually had this too and had forgotten about it (since we ended up stranded overseas for a few days and had to rebook both the flight and the appointment), but it did give me a lot of peace knowing that I was coming home and had an appointment immediately after.  So, it's a good idea if you can get the doctor to work with you!

    OMG! Congratulations!!!!

I flew overseas at 5 weeks, and flew again at 10 weeks and 16 weeks. I was a little nervous, but LO is still doing great. You'll be fine. If it's a long flight, just be sure to keep getting up to stretch your legs every once in awhile. And stay hydrated.

  • You'll be fine, but if you don't fly regularly I understand the concern.

I just bought tickets for my first pregnant flight the other day.  Cross country to see the fam.  I'm planning on getting an aisle seat so I can get to the bathroom and walking every hour or so.  Otherwise, it will probably be a pretty normal flight.  I'll be around 14w at the time.
