Headed to the Airport

I am leaving in a few minutes to head to Newark to go help out my Mom in Texas.  She had total knee replacement surgery on Tuesday, and my sister stayed the first week so now it's my turn.  I also get to spend time with my sister, and niece and nephew as well as see some friends from HS that I haven't seen in a few years!  I will be getting the body pat down at the airport in lieu of the body scanner, so here's hoping I get a nice agent.  Can't wait for some nice weather!

    They may not even have the scanners working yet. When I flew out of Newark in November, they just had the regular metal detectors going. The x-ray scanners were there...but they weren't using them yet.

    Have fun!! I flew JFK to San Diego and back this month and it was never an issue. They did have those scanners in SD, but I went through a regular metal detector.

    I flew out of Newark yesterday. Our line split from the new machine and the old xray... The TSA agent directing which one to go through took one look at my belly and told me to do the old one. You'll be fine :)

    The new scanners don't give off enough radiation or anything that affect the baby. I read up on those before flying back home for xmas, they had a whole section on the TSA website and they're safe, have fun!

    I disagree. I don't think there's enough information on them to determine that they're safe. It's not like they can do a controlled study on putting pregnant women through them. My Dr advised to not go through one of them whatsoever when I was traveling.
