Question about early result pregnancy tests

I have not been on the board in quite some time but I had a question for you ladies now that we are TTC again!
I really think I am pregnant. I have been nauseous the last 2 days, tender breasts & had mild cramping during the week. AF is due tomorrow & i'm usually very regular. I have taken 3 pregnancy tests this week including one this morning and all have been negative. I know the tests say "up to 6 days before your missed period" so maybe that's why I'm not seeing a positive. Then again, maybe I'm not pregnant...but just wondering others experience with taking a pregnancy early where the result was negative but then at some point did get a positive.

I got negatives at 8 and 9 dpo and then a positive at 10 dpo. Most tests are pretty sensitive now days, so usually you will get a + before you miss your period, but I know there are others who didn't get a positive until after AF is due. But they usually don't know when they ovulate, so technically, they could not have been late.
Are you sure of when you ovulate? Or do you just know your cycle length?
I didn't get a positive till 2 weeks after my expected period. I am still 100% sure I knew when I ovulated, my Dr. wasn't worried she actually told me to wait a week longer than I did to retest.
The waiting is the worst part, but from someone who has been there give it longer than a few days before you test again.
i love when i come on here and there is someone going through the exact same thing as me... here is my story...
was on oral BC for 6 years for ovarian cysts (nothing that ever affected my cycle, but caused pain) Went off the end of Dec 2010, got my period on 1/1/11 (was avoiding sex middle of cycle cuz wanted to let my body readjust) got my period 1/27/11 (wasnt as heavy as it was before BC but it lasted about 6 days) Started trying to conceive in Feb, had sex every other day for a few weeks (did use OPK but never got a positive, did in the morning which i later found out is not the best time to do it) so not exactly sure when or if i ovulated... so now my period is about 5-6 days late, took a pregnancy test 3 days ago and then again this morning, both negative.
my cycle was NEVER irregular, and now im just confused why it would be regular the first cycle and not the second, last week i had such sore breasts, nausea and mild cramping.. they have since subsided but no idea what is going on!!!
i dont mind getting my period, i know its common to have to try for a while but this not knowing stuff is driving me crazy!
