Babies: 9 - 12 Months

When did/will you lower the crib?

DD is not pulling up or crawling yet but she does creep (army crawl) and she has started rolling on her belly at night since she started sleeping on her sides and DH said last night she was in her crib and got into the crawling position.. I'm thinking we will probably have to lower it now..

What are your thoughts and what made you lower the crib if LO didn't crawl or pull up yet? I LOVE having the crib not lowered cuz its easier to reach in for her and stuff but obviously my main concern is her safety! TIA!

Re: When did/will you lower the crib?

  • We lowered it around 8 months, but DS isn't crawling yet (but he can pull himself up to stand on furniture). I wanted to lower it sooner rather than later, and avoid an accident. It is so much easier to have it high (easier on your back!), but I feel more at ease having it lower now.

We lowered it about a month ago. He is nowhere near being able to pull  up on it yet but I'd rather get it done than have to do an emergency lowering mid week when we are both exhausted. I'd say just do it.

I know what you mean.. When DH told me last night that she got into the crawling position in her crib the first thing I said was "we have to lower her crib tomorrow".. Congrats on your Pregnancy!!!

  • I moved all of my girls mattresses about 6 months.  DD didn't start to pull up in her crib until this last month - but much better to be safe than sorry.  A friends 11 mo fell out of her crib the other day because she learned to pull up and tumbled out.
  • We didn't move her into the crib overnight until 9 months, but we did lower it first.  Even though she wasn't crawling or pulling up you never know when it will happen and I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep worrying about her falling out!

  • We lowered it to the lowest of the 3 setting (it's such a pain, we figured, we just lower it all the way) at 8 months.  He doesn't crawl but pulls up and cruises.  I seemed like it happened suddenly that he could pull up in the crib, so I suggest lowering it sooner than later.

  • We lowered ours all the way around 8 months as well.
    Shot first, questions later.
  • Thanks Everyone! I will definitaly make sure DH gets it lowered today!

  • We lowered ours this weekend. DD doesn't crawl, roll over, or get into a sitting position from laying down, but she is starting to pull up on things and I've heard they can start doing all those other things really fast, so we figured better to be safe than sorry.

  • We waited until she started pulling up (which was around 10 months).
