Stuff-2nd timers

I have been putting off getting a bunch of things we need for this baby. I guess because we already have DS I have felt like there is no rush I have a lot of things already. But it just hit me how much we really still do need, even little things, and I have not done anything yet. I know I still have about 9-10 weeks to do it all, but all of a sudden that doesn't seem like enough time.

Any 2nd timers feel the same way?

Re: Stuff-2nd timers

  • MEEEEEEEEE!!!  I feel like I have NOTHING!!!  I have bought some clothes, just b/c since we are having a girl this time around, the clothes are a lot more fun to shop for.  But, I think I have a total of like 5 sleepers, and the sizes range!  I have bought a Bumbo from Craigslist, but I am pretty sure that is far from a must have.  Our problem is this pregnancy came as such a suprise, we are trying to save for the big things, but we don't have much time left to save...and we need a crib, a double stroller, and so much more!  Then there's all the little stuff too.  I just hope one of these days, DH and I will get motivated and just go on a big shopping spree, but, that will probably be like week 39!!

I know exactly what you mean! We have been trying to save also, but it feels like time is running out. We still need to get a double stroller, a dresser, and so much more. Luckily we have already gotten the pack n play and the breast pump. But I feel like anxious because there is so much more we need to get. I have basically gotten clothes for LO because same as you we are having a girl this time around. I haven't even gotten her bedding yet for the crib.

  • I guess I'm not to that stage yet :) Or maybe I'm in denial about needing new things? I know we'll need new bottle nipples & inserts for the drop-ins, newonesies, sheets and burp cloths...is there something I'm missing?

Do you need a double stroller or pack n play anything like that? We are going to use DS's crib when she is ready for one, since DS will have moved in to a toddler bed by then. I'm not sure what we are going to do about bottles and things like that yet, since I am breastfeeding this time around. I didn't breastfeed with DS and so we have a ton of Avent bottles left from him, I guess I would just need to get new nipples for those bottles? I don't think we will need to use bottles often since I will try and exclusively bf assuming all goes well with it.

  • Oh yeah, a double stroller! I was hoping to find one of those Snap n Go "sit & stand" ones. I should keep an eye out on CL for that. All the other furniture and gear we aready have thank goodness. Having boy #2 has made it east for us apparently :)

I feel like if we were having another boy it would have totally been easier. But I am equally excited to have a girl :)

  • DS2 is off season from DS1 so we need a bunch of summer 0-3 clothes.  I have tons of winter.

I need bottles, but that's about it. I bought our double stroller months ago and we bought a pack n play a few weeks ago.  Our other PNP was recalled so we had to get another one.

We have everything from DS1 since we knew we wanted a 2nd child.

  • I think we are pretty close to set. We are reusing the crib, have a jogging stroller that will take the car carrier (DD is almost 4 she can walk), p-n-p is in great shape.  The room is all set up and DD's old clothes are ready to be worn, if we have a girl. We have a few gender neutral outfits, but if its a boy DH and Grandpa will make a shopping trip to get a 'boy' wardrobe. Yes, Grandpa likes to shop for baby clothes, it is so cute!  I registered for new bottles and hope to get some at my shower, but if not it's a quick trip to the store.  I am going to try to breastfeed again, but after failing last time, I want to have some on hand. I think besides the obstacles of being Team Green and not knowing what the shower will bring, we are ready for this  baby!Big Smile

    This is me.

I am so laid-back this time around, almost to a fault!  We really do need to start thinking about DS's big boy bed and furniture...since the plan is to have him switched before #2 arrives so he/she can have his crib, changing table, etc.  Not to mention all the little stuff (bottle nipples, etc).

We're holding off on a double stroller for now...unless we find a killer deal on a BOB Dualie (anyone looking to sell?  ;)

One of these days I'm hoping my motivation will kick in...

  • We are pretty much starting over with #2.  We have an exersaucer, jumperoo, stroller, car seat, high chair, bassinet, bumbo and a few other odds and ends that are gender neutral and in great shape.  but, we are starting over with everything else.

  • HELLL YES!

I have daily freak out and yet I still don't get anything new. I have all the big things besides the car seat which my mom is wanting to get us. (thank you mom!) But I think because it is all washed and piled in the basement it doesn't FEEL like I have it. I know I will bring things up as I need them because baby stuff takes up so much space and I don't want DS playing on them yet.

I need more small things, like bottles, binkies, blankets, clothes. The stuff I know if we had a shower i'd get but because we aren't I need to find the time to get them, but because of where we live it makes it hard. I think I am going to hit up a bigger town soon and stalk up so I can stop stressing!

  • I haven't done anything.  Well, I did trade some of DS's clothes for girl clothes.  But that's it.  DH will be home in a few more weeks and he can freak out about what needs to be done, but really I remember having a bunch of stuff in the house that we didn't use for months.  I've got my Moby washed.  We'll get a carseat before we bring her home.  Everything else we either already have on hand or I don't think we will need right away.

  • I'll probably really kick it into gear next week after DDs birthday.

I also don't really feel like I need a whole lot.  I kept everything from DD1, and they aren't too far off season for clothes.

  • I do somewhat. We have all the furniture and everything situated (though the nursery is NOT ready), but we already have it all. I do need some sleepers, burp cloths and all of that. I plan to give BF'ing another go, so we'll see about the whole bottle situation. I mainly need NB and 0-3MO clothing, but other than that, I'm good to go (relatively speaking). We do still need to pull the bassinet down from the attic and put together the changing table, but that's all doable.

DH has every weekend except this one coming up to work on all the things we need done (before he goes on a week long "work" trip).
