Pregnant after a Loss

Dizziness?

I woke up last night around 2 a.m. only to find myself feeling like the room was spinning and I had drunk too much alcohol. (which I hadn't, of course!) The dizziness has lasted all day. Any sudden movement, rolling over in bed, getting up suddenly, makes my head rock and ache. I know it's a normal pregnancy symptom, but boy I hadn't expected this to happen. Anyone know how to deal with it besides avoiding sudden movements and getting sleep? TIA!

Re: Dizziness?

  • Dizziness is definitely something that I experienced in this PG.  I was reading one of my PG book from mayo clinic and it mentioned dizziness as a PG symptom also.  It seems like most women with low BP get this symptom.  My BP is usually on the low side:  usually in 90s/50s.

  • I got dizzy a lot when I was pregnant with DD and fainted a couple times. Just keep crackers or something to eat handy and drink lots of water. Sit down if you even think you're dizzy (I passed flat out on a tile floor and got a nice bump on my head). I think it's due to hormones kind of going all over the place, and I think it's normally in the first tri or so, but I had it through the first half of my first pregnancy. Hang in there!

  • Yo.

I've been having trouble with this.  Especially when I stand up after sitting cross legged on the couch.  This last time I literally had to just sit myself on the ground until I regained myself.

  • I had trouble with this too.  The doctor said it can be from low blood pressure or low blood sugar.  I kept gummy worms by the bed and in my purse for a few weeks.  It definitely helped. (I actually had a couple of these spells while driving.  GL!

  • Thanks, everyone. My blood pressure is normal everytime I've been, but maybe it's low now. I'll keep drinking my water, and grab some sweets to keep  on hand. My biggest fear is driving, so I'll be taking the side streets to work this morning.

  • I have had some dizzy spells for sure this pregnancy.  For me, they attributed it to a) dips in already low BP, b) I have become a little anemic, and c) I have had bad rhinitis, so she said there was some fluid in my ears throwing off my equilibrium.

I would suggest letting your dr. know though for sure, as they may be able to solve it for you, depending on the underlying reason.  But I hear that dizziness is a totally normal pg symptom.

  • Hey lady, where have you been? HOW have you been?

This has happened to me a few times as well. I actually have checked my blood sugar (we have the monitor since DH is diabetic) and it's not that -- so I assuming it's my blood pressure, which is always low (I run around 90-100/50 during the day when I am up and active).
