So I had maybe 3 or 4 drops of brown spotting but no cramping and I called the on-call doctor. She said that since we are leaving early in the morning for a cruise that I should go to the ER to have an u/s just to have piece of mind etc..so we went and we were there for almost 4 hours! The doctor was thoroghly rude and kept trying to get me to get test done that I didn't want or need I was totally reassured though with a beautiful ultrasound in which dh and I saw a perfectly round yolk sac and a fetal poll flickering away The u/s tech was amazing and took a lot of time on us and told me that my due date is 10/24 which is exactly on schedule without me telling her any info so I'm much more confident to go away this week but of course the rude doctor came back to tell me that it's a threatened miscarriage and that I'm not out of the water etc...I feel like he was totally trying to freak me out. In any event we have our u/s scheduled for next monday at 7weeks so I'll take it easy this week and see what I see next week. FX that my little pumpkin seed keeps growing and hangs in here we love it already ?
Re: Home from the ER for spotting...
I'm really glad you went in to be checked given that you're leaving tomorrow...and I'm totally jealous you got to see a hb at your u/s AND you get a cruise
FWIW, I was told I had a threatened m/c too. Its what they have to call it if we've told them there is bleeding. That you saw the flickering is a good sign!

Brown spotting is considered pretty normal. My best friend went through a "threatened m/c" earlier in her last pregnancy. They told her to take it easy and keep an eye on it. She also saw a h/b during the u/s. She went on to have a beautiful baby girl.
I'm not trying to blow rainbows up your butt, because of course you should rest and take it easy. I do think you're going to be fine though.

It is such a relief to see that heartbeat. Congrats! I had a doctor like that in ER who was trying to be more cautious because they knew I had a miscarriage. Luckily that day my OB was in the hospital for a delivery and decided to see me also. While the ER doctor said that I may have issues because they couldn't see a fetal pole, my OB assured me that it was normal for how far along I am. It is nice to see someone who know about everything that we are going through. Try not to think too much about what the ER doctor is saying. He is just being overly cautious. GL with you next appointment.
