HELP! Light bleeding/spotting

Ok I am trying to not freak myself out here.  Not to get too personal.  After DH and I had sex this evening there was a tiny bit of blood.  I mean just some spotting and pin head sized dots of it.  It stopped.  It was mostly pinkish in the cervical fluid,  I will call my dr. in the morning or do you think I should call now?  I have heard after sex it could happen.  It's completely gone now and no cramping or anything.  Thoughts/advice?  Thanks!

Re: HELP! Light bleeding/spotting

  • I'd say it's from the sex.  Call your Dr now though, that's why you pay them

  • I think you will be okay for tonight.  Call the doctor in the morning would be my advice.  But I have spotted everytime hubby and I have had sex while pregnant.  Which why I would not panic.  I know that it is hard to not panic though.

  • Thanks. I will call in the morning unless there is anymore.  I remember hearing it's normal, but just need the reassurance.
  • It's totally normal for some to spot after sex. I asked my doctor about it and she said that if it's something that freaks me out not to have sex lol

  • Had similar spotting last week.  Went to Dr and first question was did I have sex recently and was I cramping.  I hadn't but had ultrasound and everything was good.  I think it's pretty common right after sex.  Don't worry too much.  Check in the morning.
  • Someone asked a similar question earlier today on 3rd tri and I liked this answer for both you and her.

I found this when doing a Google search:

Mucus plug - The cervix is "plugged" with a thick piece of mucous that helps protect your baby during pregnancy by blocking the entrance to the uterus. As your cervix changes and dilates, part of the mucus plug can be released. How much you see depends on how quickly these changes occur. You might only notice an increase in discharge or you may find the whole "plug" at once during a trip to the bathroom. Time to labor? Weeks to hours.

Bloody show - Bloody show is a pink, brown or red tinged mucous that can be found when wiping while going to the bathroom or sometimes on your sanitary pad or underwear. This is a sign that your cervix is changing by dilating, thinning or moving forward in preparation for labor. Don't be fooled! You can also see this after sex or a vaginal exam in late pregnancy - this isn't the same thing. Time to labor? Varies from hours to weeks.
