To provera or not? (TTCAL Lurker)

Hi all - I hope you are all doing great! I'm lurking from the TTCAL board and thought you all might be able to provide some advice.

I had a D&C on 12/29 (12weeks along) and have yet to see AF (almost 9 weeks later).

I'm debating whether or not to try Provera (progesterone) to jump start my cycle. I started charting late in my cycle, link is below, but not sure it's all that informative.

Have any of you tried Provera to start AF? Did it cause any problems with TTC later?

Any pros/cons that you see?

I'm sorry for your loss. I took Prometrium (progesterone) when I still hadn't seen AF about 6 weeks after my natural m/c. I found it really helpful, though it did take the full 10 days of taking it (plus a few days after) for AF to start for me. It did make me have hot flashes, but they weren't unbearable. I thought it was worth it as I was tired of being in constant limbo and really needed AF to come so I could start to move on.

I didn't notice any issues with it later. My cycles actually returned to their usual length after that, other than my one first TTC cycle that was short. That was my fourth cycle after the m/c though.

Talk with your doctor about that. Mine didn't have any reservations giving it to me. Plus, I was on Depo for a year or so (years ago though) as birth control. It's basically the same thing, though in a different dosage and delivery. I figured if it was safe for that and safe to get pregnant after that, then it was safe as a short term treatment to whack my body back into shape.

I had to take Provera to end my 10 week post m/c cycle - after the 10 days/doses, AF started like 4-5 days later... so from start to finish it took about 2 weeks to bring on AF with the meds. I didn't really experience any SEs - had some mild night sweats, but that was about it.

This current pregnancy was also the result of that new cycle, started by the Provera and so neither myself or my OB had any reservations.

I over responded to clomid on my 2nd iui cycle and to avoid risks that came with ovulation I had to take provera to prevent O and end the cycle. Had there not been other issues from the clomid my RE would have done another iui cycle right after that so I wouldn't worry. 2 cycles after the provera is when I got pg.
