Sakura Bloom questions

Hi all!  I am looking into purchasing a Sakura Bloom Pixie sling and wondered if anyone here has one or knows about SB slings in general.  I am trying to decide between a double or single layer and wondered what the advantages and disadvantages to both may be.  Also, has anyone seen the Mochi colorway in person?  I really like the look of it from the pictures I have seen from afar online but I am really curious about the individual colors up close.

My other questions are more general.  Does anyone happen to know what the standard length of a SB is, and does this differ with the Pixie line?  And also, I have had two sellers state that they do not want to unthread the sling to take a measurement.  Is it a bad thing to unthread a sling?  I only ask because this seems shady to me.

Thanks so much!

Re: Sakura Bloom questions

  • I love my SB! I'm not sure the length and it's out in the car right now, but I'll try to measure it a little later.  I'm not sure why they wouldn't want to unthread it, seems kind of strange to me.  It's not like it takes a lot to rethread it - I have to rethread mine periodically because it gets bunched weird after being used for a while and if it gets stuffed into my diaper bag wrong.

I'm not sure how old your baby is, but generally the double layer is better for a heavier baby since it gives you more support.   Mine is a single layer, and DS is still pretty comfy in it at around 17 lbs.   If I hadn't gotten mine for free, I would have purchased the double layer though, just because it'll be useful longer.

  • I have a double silk SB & love it. If you can snag a double linen, I would go for it over a single since you may use it longer. I think the standard length is 76" but I could be mistaken.

I do have to say, I wouldn't buy from a mama unwilling to provide a measurement. That's just not good business. It's a pretty standard question & often provided in the listing to begin with.

  • I use mine everyday- it is a double and very strong and gorgeous!!!!!!
  • I have a single layer linen that I've retired for a while because LO has been too heavy for me to be 100% comfortable since about 19 or 20lbs. I have a double layer silk that I can't live without.

The pixie collection is absolutely beautiful for summer. I love them. I wouldn't worry about the individual stripe colors themselves because it all kind of blends when you see it from afar. Know what I mean? A double layer will serve you well for a long time. And as for the seller, maybe she's just inexperienced and doesn't know how to rethread?
  • Thank you all for your responses!  The information has been very helpful.  I think I am going to go with the double linen since my DD is now over 20 pounds.  I am not going to purchase from anyone that can't give me a measurement, I thought that was odd and wondered if I was just being a pain.  Both sellers have stated that they do not want to unthread because their slings are new and it is a pain to rethread?  I don't know, sounds shady to me.  I think I will continue to look.  Hopefully I will see a double layer Pixie pop up somewhere soon.  :)

Rethreading takes me almost no time at all, like maybe a minute, max, and it's not that hard.  My bet is, they don't know how to thread it properly, but even then, they really don't need to thread it again - they can just ship it unthreaded.  Sounds very strange!

  • Those were my exact thoughts, but since I am a newbie it sure was nice to hear it from someone else!  Thanks!  :)
