5 weeks PP and still have crying fits

And I'm not talking about the baby.  So I have a head cold, and I'm thinking that I am crying because I just feel awful, but I seriously cry like 4 times a day.  This overwhelming sadness just comes over me and I can't seem to figure out why I'm crying.

Anyone else feel this way?

Re: 5 weeks PP and still have crying fits

  • You might want to call your doctor and let him/her know about this, it might be a slight case of baby blues. I had it with my son, I actually asked my doctor if she could put him back in (so embarassing looking back). I was put on a low dose of Zoloft and it really helped. I was on it for a few months and then was able to get off with no issues.

My doctor put me on a low dose of Zoloft a few weeks before I delivered this time and I really think it has helped me this time too. I still had my crying sessions, but it is way less this time around and really don't have them any more (12 days pp right now).

I am so sorry that you are feeling so sad lately, I hope you are able to figure out some nutral ground to be on soon.

  • I hear you. I'm nowhere near as bad as I was toward the end of the first week, but I feel like the baby blues are something I need to actively battle. What helps me are 1) forcing myself to try to get as much sleep as I can and 2) reaching out to other new moms locally-- support groups, etc. Getting out of the house and talking to others going through the same things really picks me up.
