Issues peeing?

I'll feel like I have to go very bad and then when I attempt, I'll just get a trickle but if I try again a few minutes later, I'll actually pee.

I'm wondering if this is baby related or if I have something else going on (no burning, etc.)

Am I the only one not peeing 'normally' anymore?

Re: Issues peeing?

  • That happens to me as well. I feel like I have to pee pretty much every time I get up. Sometimes it will lots of pee and sometimes just a trickle and most of the time I can't tell which one is coming lol Just now I didn't think I had to go but I was getting up to get some water so I went and there was a lot more than I thought there would be but sometimes I have to go bad and only a little bit comes out.

  • Ya I realize that when she is head down or has something down on my bladder then it takes longer for all the urine to work out of my bladder. I have seen it on ultrasound how funky shaped ur bladder can get when the baby is laying on it. Just another excuse to get up to go pee every 5 mins ;)

  • Exact same thing happens to me! So, you are not alone, and I'm sure it has to do with what the person above said about the bladder being smashed weird
  • I have those same issues sometimes.  I think it's normal.  Now if you had burning I would be worried about a UTI.
  • I usually call that the false alarm pee. I think I really have to go, but it's only a little bit. Other times, it's a raging river.  I agree with PPs about smashy bladders.
  • I often feel like my bladder is full and when I go - not much but I don't have to go again a few minutes later. I'm sure it's just the pressure on your bladder but it doesn't hurt to mention it to you provider, some UTIs (well more bacteruria) are asymptomatic or the only symptoms are urgency/frequency.

  • Me too!!!  I'm wondering if she is finally staying in position now.  I've been having this all week and it's been annoying.   Glad to know I'm not alone!

This is exactly what is happening to me.  I assume its because the baby is compressing my bladder...????

  • I have been having the same issue lately! It must have something to do with the position of LO.

  • I asked my doctor about this a few weeks ago and she said that one reason is that the baby is actually resting on your urethra and essentially pinching it off, so the urine that is in your bladder doesn't come out.  So the feeling that you need to pee is real, but the baby is essentially blocking most of the exit.  She recommended that I stand up or try and actually lift my belly to see if that helps and then I can pee more.   =)

There's definitely the explanation of the baby smashing your bladder too, which gives you the sensation that you need to go but don't actually have to.

  • I always shift into 3-4 other "positions" while I try to pee. You will find "pockets" of pee in there.

If your doc has you PIAC every visit they probably check for UTI's as well as protein. During pregnancy you can have a "silent" UTI, no pain, nothing seemingly out of the ordinary. I would not worry too much :-)

  • I have this same problem!!   I asked my dr about it a couple of weeks ago because I thought I might have a UTI...  Nope, no UTI, just baby is probably blocking it.
