Blame it on pregnancy

I had my first pregnancy breakdown last night. DH and I venture out to Chick-Fil-A for a chicken sandwich.  I ordered a chicken deluxe sandwich with American cheese, no tomato, no pickle.  She repeated my order correctly, I even looked at the receipt.  So, thought this is what they do for a living should be right, right?

Wrong!  I was prepping my food while wrapping up a phone call with my best friend.  Removed my bun and that's when it happened... I started yelling obscenities and told my bestie I had to call her back.  I looked at DH and held up two tomatoes and said "they forgot my cheese" and started crying hysterically.  Poor DH had no idea what to do, he took the tomatoes from me and came back with a slice of cheese asking " would you like for me to put cheese on that for you, so sincerely.  I couldn't answer because I am now drowning my sandwich in tears.

This episode lasted about 3 -5 minutes of real tears.  He returned my food now laid out on a plate.  Once I realized what happened I was so embarrassed.  I think DH was to scared to say anything to me. He said he has heard of women breaking down, but always thought it was BS.

Just wondered has anyone else had a meltdown over food?

Re: Blame it on pregnancy

  • Well honestly I think that was a little dramatic.  Real tears for 5 minutes, really?  It bugs the crap out of me that women think they can be total drama queens and then just blame it on pregnancy.  My sister tried to pull that junk when she was pregnant - she was a total b!tch to everyone and then tried to blame it on hormones.  Ummm no, that was just her being a b!tch, pregnancy hormones or not.  Not saying that is how you are, just using her as an example.

  • I would have had the exact reaction if I had been home alone.  Keep in mind I didn't ask for him to assist me in making my food to my liking.  I just began being able to remove tomatoes from my food without gagging. I have not blamed anything else on being pregnant, I too have thought it was extremely foolish for someone to react like that over food (witnessed my SIL 2 years ago freak out over her food) until now.

Was it dramatic?  Probably so.  Am I a drama queen? Absolutely not. Just a pregnant woman who doesn't get out of the house (due to dr restrictions) and was really looking forward to an outing, even if it was just to Chik-Fil-A.

  • You are totally fine!  I had a complete freak out after going to TWO McDonalds for a hot fudge sundae and neither of the icecream machines were working.  So yea, it happens...we're pregnant :)

  • I had one at McDonalds too when I went there and they put shredded lettuce on my chicken sandwich.  Normal big leaf of lettuce, fine.  But do you know how hard it is to pick shredded lettuce off a sandwich!!

I don't think you're being a drama queen at all.  It happens to the best of us.  In fact, I had a similar meltdown the night before my DH proposed to me lol  Everything had been going terrible right before we were moving, every thing that could go wrong did.  And then...I dropped my piece of pizza on the floor top side down after we just had the floor steam cleaned.  I burst out crying and DH decided to propose the next morning because he wanted me to have something good happen before we left lol (Note: he didn't do it because I was crying, he already had his plan laid out and how he was going to do it and the ring and everything, he just didn't know when :)

  • Yah uh yesterday I went to Wendy's and asked for 2 sour creams for my chili. I PAID for my two packets of sour cream and they forgot them. I went back through the drive thru and I lost my ***. I think the guy was more freaked out that I was practically crying than anything else. Oops!
  • I was so frustrated with frozen OJ once (at a BK drive thru...) that I cried. Eh, it happens.

  • I don't think you were being overly dramatic.  Sometimes its the little things, that we are so looking forward to, that wind up being the straw that breaks us.  You obviously needed to get some stress out if you cried about it for 5 minutes, but atleast it was just your DH and not the whole dine-in section of Chic-Fil-A.  Hope it was good once he fixed it!  Have a bowl of ice cream and smile!Big Smile

  • Tomatoes and cheese inducing real tears for 5 minutes is being a drama queen.  Being upset and going back for them to make it right is understandable, even reasonable.

  • I don't think you were being a drama queen at all. I don't know why people are getting on you. I mean I am SURE that under normal circumstances you would not cry over missing cheese. So I say cry cry away!

  • Not over dramatic at all.  Early on (when I had m/s so was very picky on what I ate) DH and I went to McDonald's.  When we got home, he grabbed the door to hold it open and dropped my drink all over the ground.  I was PISSED at him about that because I could have held the door myself.  Then, I opened my sandwich and it had cheese on it.  I cried for a few minutes.  DH went back to McDonald's and got me a new sandwich and drink.  I apologized to him when he got back, I felt terrible and never would have done it otherwise.
