TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Zero Follies

Today is cd8 and I went in for my u/s.  Nothing there to measure.  My lining is at 8, which is nice, but it doesn't matter if there aren't any follies.  My E2 69.  They are keeping me at 75 of gonal-f for tonight and tomorrow, then I go back for another u/s on Tuesday.  She said if it doesn't look better they will change things up, but I'm frustrated they aren't changing things now.  I know they are worried that because of my PCOS that I can over stimulate, but getting nothing doesn't work either.  I thought I was suppose to do better by starting the injections early and dropping the femera, guess not.

  • Hugs. I'm so sorry.

I had a similar thing happen to me in October. I was on 150 of Follistim. No follies, and my E2 was 70. They doubled my dose, and a few days later, my E2 was down in the 40s. It looks like doubling the dose didn't do jack sh!t.

I've read that with PCOS, longer stims are many times needed. Did your RE mention how much longer s/he'll stim you for?

I didn't ask, probably because I'm not sure I want to know.  I will ask Tuesday though.  Last cycle I got to day 16 and they said if it didn't look better at the next u/s I would have to scrap this cycle.  So, I hopefully have a little time.

I am using gonal-f.  I haven't tried follistem, but my understanding is that they are pretty much identical and work the same way.  It seems that the problem is that not only do I have PCOS, but I have early ovarian failure, so it's more complicated.

  • Hugs.  I'm so sorry.  As a fellow PCOSer on injectibles, I can tell you from experience, things do change quickly.  I went in for a day8 u/s with nothing over 8mm and my RE was dissapointed and upped my Follistim from 75 to 150.  Two days later I had ~20 follies that were 11-14.  Unfortunatly, that was too much of a response.  I don't remember my day 8 E2 number though.  So your RE is being careful to not have that happen...hopefully yours is just slow to respond like mine.

  • NO. WTF?!

I'm so sorry hon. I know how horribly disappointing that can be. My first cycle I wasn't responding worth crap on 75 of Gonal so they maxed me out on that and Menopur and I did better - however I think mine was an estrogen level not number of follies.

I really, really hope this works for you hon and I'd be frustrated too by their not changing your dosage ASAP!

  • I'm sorry, Kristy.  It's so frustrating to go through the injections and not see the results you were hoping for.  I hope they can make some adjustments and get things moving this cycle.
  • man. I wish they were being more aggressive. I understand being cautious to not over-stim, but I think the evidence is there now that you don't respond great to this level. . . .

keep us posted - thinking of you.

  • I am so sorry for this news. It's time your RE ups the dosage quite a bit. I was on 375 a night, however I understand not wanting to overstimulate. Is that even possible if there is no response to low dosages? Big hugs
