This is what my DF, BIL, and sister keep telling Mathieu when they are holding him and he is crying/reaching for me. I HATE it! It makes me feel like a horrible mom for wanting a small break, especially since he has been really clingy because of teething. Of course I want him... I just want a small break even more right then.... ugh!

I know it is truly no big deal, but it just gets on my nerves so bad... why not tell him, Mommy needs a break, you get to hang out with daddy (auntie, uncle) for a little while... anything but she doesn't want you! Ok.. Vent over!

Ugh- that's annoying! My DH will make sarcastic comments about caring for DD. I had to tell him I need him to be happy to help! Or at least pretend so the break will be a peaceful one.

Yeah, I would be highly annoyed as well. My DH will make comments like that sometimes and he thinks he is being funny. There is nothing wrong with needing a break every once in awhile.

I would be upset not annoyed. I know they are probably joking, but it is hurtful. Of course you want your child, but you do need a break sometimes. Can you nicely say something like "Of course I want my child, and that really hurts my feelings even if you are joking."

when my SIL takes her from me when she's crying she says "dont look at her" referring to me.. I wanna smack the b!@#@... LOL.. I swear! FAMILY! im in for it MIL comes to stay with us for two whole wonderful cold ass weeks in MI !!! I cant wait til spring i cant stand being stuck in the house all damn day with that woman! she's a big help but OMG! im glad im working a ton this next two weeks!

That is horrible!!!!!! I would be furious & hurt. I'm sorry that they are not more supportive. Thank God everyone in my life knows not to say crap like that to me.

It is a big deal. I would have a talk with your fiance about how it hurts your feelings when he says that. My DH knows I sometimes needs a break, and has never said that to our children.

I would tell them how you feel. A comment like that would break me in two...especially if I'm in a "I need a break" frame of mind. There is absolutely NO REASON to be negative with a child, especially regarding its mother/caregiver. NOT.FUNNY.
