Hi Everyone!
I'm new to this board, so I am not sure if this question has been asked before. For those of you who already had "the big reveal" ultra sound, who did you take with you to the appointment? My DH and I have been talking about if we want it to be just us, or if we will invite our Moms as well. Thoughts?? Thanks so much. =0)
Re: The big reveal
It was just DH and I. I do not live close to my family, but I don't think I would even have thought of having anyone else there. I guess I just felt that it was something really special between the two of us that we wanted to share.
I haven't heard of anyone bringing anyone else with them, but I am sure it has been done plenty of times.
with DD, DH and I took my mom and sister along with us. My sister was only 15 and she was very touched we brought her along, she even cried during.
This time it'll be DH and DD that come with me because we now live out of state.
We did just us. But, we also did the envelope method. No reveal at the appointment, tech puts it in an envelope. Most that do that then open the envelope with the dear family members present.
We went a bit further though, and took the envelope to a bakery, had them decorate a cake saying "Congratulations! It's a *****!" With colored booties on it, seal the box and envelope back up. And headed to SO's family's house to meet up with his family and my mother. Then we opened the cake and surprise! Boy + sweets. It made it more exciting for SO's 4 yr old son. Yay cake! haha.
We invited both our moms because it's the first grandchild on both sides. I'm really happy that we did because they REALLY enjoyed it. The ultrasound tech even gave them their own ultrasound picture print-out.
It's a really personal moment for the mommy and daddy to be, but my DH and I went out to dinner afterwards just the two of us, so we could have our own personal celebration.
I've thought about taking my 5 year old along with us (my husband and I) so he can hear what it is!
However, I am worried about doing this strictly because of what his reaction might be! He really wants a little brother! He told us the other day - do not get ANY girl stuff..ok??
Lordy!

I had my DH and Mom and Gramma when i found out about my DD.... I wish it had just been us, because i started crying and everyone thought I was crying because we were getting a girl and DH wanted a boy... they all started making rude comments about how he would get over it.
No one even stopped to consider I was just emotionally overwhelmed, and my DH didn't care either way. They just assumed the worst. It really ruined the whole moment.
This time it will just be us, as my OB doesn't allow young children into the US room. >_<
It was just DH and I at the u/s. We were given pictures to show our families afterwards.
Do you want your mom or your DH's mom there if the u/s tech finds something wrong? Remember, the purpose of the Anatomy scan is to make sure your baby is growing correctly and to check on all of the organs to make sure they are normal. It is not just a "fun" u/s to find out the baby's sex.
My baby was sitting very low in my pelvis so I pretty much had to take my pants off. I would not have been comfortable with my MIL viewing that.
