A little paint job will it look bad if I do so?

    No, I'm sure it'll look fine. But just be aware that the more layers of paint, the easier it chips.

    Just try to start painting a area that wont be exposed to see how it looks. Im sure it will be fine.

    as long as you do it correctly you should not have a problem. are you just touching it up or are you doing a total paint job? if you are painting the whole thing you probably want to sand it down and then wipe the dust off with a damp cloth. you can also use a stripper but that is pretty harsh smelling and DH will have to do it outside. MH wants to strip and restain the dresser since it came from my great-grandpa's house and might have lead in the stain. he said a stripper will be safer if there is lead. You can always ask at home depot or a paint store for more advice.
