If you don't have family close by...

or friends with small children, what are you going to do for LO's 1st birthday? I need ideas... Smile

  • We are actually going to visit DH's fam in March and mine in May and have a small celebration at each.  DD's bday is in April, but the party is for us, anyway.

  • We have family close by but a friend of mine doesn't and she's throwing a very small party at her house and is inviting a few friends that she's made from the local Mom's group. She LOVES to cook and since there's not going to be a lot of people she's cooking a ton of food and having cake. All the kids that will be going are less than a year old so she's going to have lots of toys out for them and of course cake for her LO!

  • We are flying home to California to have it with friends and family.

  • I'm going to make a cake, decorate, and we'll have a small party with just our little family where we'll help DD2 open her gifts. I'll also take the girls out for special activities during the day -- maybe we'll do the Children's Museum this time.

This is what we've done for DD1 and will probably keep doing until they're old enough to have their own friends that they want to invite.

  • My BFF lives in GA, and their family lives here. They plan on going out to dinner, having some of their friends over for a BBQ but when they come up this summer, she'll throw another party.
  • We just have DH's twin here, and I do have one friend with kids...

I'm inviting my friend over and we're going to take all the kids swimming.  That's pretty much it!  You could find an indoor pool and do that with the baby and your DH :-)

  • We are asking our one set of firends with children plus a few of our closer adult friends to join us at the zoo to feed the giraffes and have cupcakes. We are zoo members so we get free passes (we've been saving them) so our friends won't have to pay. Otherwise, we are having a little party just the three of us.

  • We don't have family close but all of the grandparents are making the trip and DH's sister and her husband are coming. We are inviting friends with and without kids and will have a mix of kids from 5 months to 13.

DS birthday is in April and we are hoping for nice weather and having a Circus theme party in the back yard with games and hot dogs and child and adult friendly beverages.

My mom is hosting a cake and ice cream birthday party the Sat. before Easter at her house for my aunts and uncles. (I am an only child)
