Compression garment after birth?

Any second time moms with experience wearing compression garments after birth? Any first time moms planning on wearing one?

I remember reading a blog post written by an American woman who gave birth in Japan. I found it interesting that wrapping a mother's abdomen in standard procedure over there. I also have a good friend tell me how creepy it was to feel her organs moving around after she gave birth.

I've seen the Belly Bandit on several sites and just recently found Bellefit, which seems pretty appealing to me.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I lived in my Spanx for a few months after having my daughter! It was the only thing that made me feel normal again. I played on three competitive soccer teams at about three months postpartum and even wore my Spanx under my uniforms! I am totally doing it again.

I plan on investing in some spanx. I don't know if it will help, but it can't hurt. So I'm going to wear them for months. Hopefully it helps with the belly pooch.

My SIL used the Belly Bandit after her two kids, and she went back to her regular size pretty quickly. She swears that it helped. I always like to wear something that I feel like "holds me in" so I'm planning on using one. She gave me hears, but she recommended getting a smaller one to for after I get a little smaller.

I had never heard of compression after birth, but I just looked into the Bellefit! It looks pretty cool and effective! Did you see the before and after pictures? Those were crazy! I'm going to research them a little more, but I definitely think I'll order a couple to bring to the hospital with me!

My mom saw the baboosh on Oprah I think and has offered to get me one for after delivery. I figure it can't hurt to try it.

I've used one after having my kids, and I love it. Right after I gave birth I felt like my insides were just hanging everywhere. I put it on and instantly felt "normal" again. By the time I left the hospital I could feel a substantial difference (I only took it off to shower) the nurses even commented on how nicely my uterus was shrinking (I was like, um, thanks, I think). I think I wore it for the first month, when I was able to start exercising again I didn't need it anymore. IMO I think it really helped, but to each his own!

My sister swears by it although I forget which one she gave me. She says that her compression thing was the reason why she was able to fit into her old clothes much sooner with her second than she did with her first.

She says I should bring it with me to the hospital and start wearing it when I go home, but I think I might wait a week or two to start using it.

All of my friends swear by them. So I'll be using one, I just haven't decided which one yet.
