Babies: 9 - 12 Months

is it just my child...

Or does your 9-month old just want to climb all over you or be held ALL THE TIME?  DH told me to just leave DS with him downstairs so I can get some work done, but now I hear him crying!  (DS, not DH).  What is with this?

Re: is it just my child...

  • I kind of wish my DS wanted to be held, at least some of the time!  I have the opposite~ he'd rather be down playing or crawling around and only wants to be held while he's eating.  After he finishes a bottle he sits right up and tries to get down.  I just want to snuggle the kid every now and then!

So, no advice from me other than he'll probably grow out of it.  Good luck!

  • Separation anxiety? There's a theory that as babies get mobile they get more attached, in an effort to prevent them from just peacing out. If they feel this new found attachment to mom (or dad or whomever) they won't wander too far.

  • Um yes, this is my child exactly. She does not play independently very well. She always wants me near her. If she is on the ground she is always trying to pull herself up on my pant leg.

  • Oh yeah, this! Pedi said he's prob going through separation anxiety & it will likely get worse over the next month or two before it starts to get better....
  • Yes... M wants to be held all the time. It gets so annoying. He has always been like this. I hope it ends soon since he turned one last week!

I'm on team anti-snuggle as well.  Makes me sad sometimes  :(
