Setting up baby registry??

So this past week after the official announcement was made to our families, we have been bombarded being asked when I'm going to have my baby registry ready... Anyone else do this yet???  It seems a little early to me to be registering, considering I haven't even decided nursery theme, furniture, etc.  Have you ladies already started registering??

Re: Setting up baby registry??

  • Everyone seems to be asking me the same thing. I do have a nursery theme picked out but still feel like it is WAY to early to register.

  • Well, the day we found out that we're on Team Blue, we celebrated with a little dinner, and a trip to BRU to start the registry. We still have a lot of research to do on the big ticket items (car seat, stroller, etc), and we're not even close to deciding on a nursery theme, but I was dying to start shopping for little man; so BF humored me a little, and we just went around and scanned things that we knew were neutral and obvious...like bath stuff, Pedialyte, pacifiers, bottles/nipples (so BF can help with feedings), and a couple of toys...I'm not expecting to have a shower for a couple of months yet, but it helped to temporarily satisfy the baby-shopping itch that I'd had for a few weeks.

  • I've started my registry at Target but plan to do a lot the day I find out the sex to celebrate. I just like to pace myself and do a lot of things over a time period and with how often I've been checking it, I'll be able to keep in mind if something is out of stock or anything. Personally, it's just easier for me spreading it out slowly like this. But I know a lot of people haven't even thought about theirs yet.
  • I have started one but only because my first shower will be in June.  It isn't really extensive because we don't know the sex yet.

  • we made a big day out of the big u/s with DD. The u/s was early in the AM, then we went out to breakfast and went to register. It was a lot of fun :)

  • I haven't started the actual registry, but I do have a lot of things already picked out. I've heard/seen a lot of women starting it right after the anatomy scan though. Since that's around the half way point & you can find out the sex, it seems a reasonable time to start IMHO. I wouldn't rush it if you're not ready/feel it's a bit early. Relatives will have plenty of time to stalk the registry once you do it.
  • last time I set up a baby registry pretty soon after the 20 wk ultrasound when I knew what we were having.  you can add things as you go even if you don't have everything picked out right now.

  • We've started our registry but haven't made it public yet since we just started it and don't know the sex yet.  We're just slowly adding items as we go along.

  • Ok, well I don't feel SO bad for not having started one!!  We're planning on staying team green, so that's not really going to affect what we put on. But I agree kinda with the halfway point. I feel almost as if then is a good time to start... I think my first step really needs to be just cleaning out the future nursery (my dogs currently have taken over that room!!) & then getting some furniture ordered.. I want to wait till Memorial Day w/e for that in the hopes of some good deals!!!

But I guess it can't hurt to start doing a little research on some of the bigger ticket items now.. especially seeing as how I bought a sporty little convertible car this past summer (obviously prior to being pregnant), and now I need to figure out how the heck I'm going to fit a carseat into the back!! lol
