Easier to get pregnant 2nd time around?

I have been off birth control and actively trying to get pregnant for 3-4 months now which obviously isn't very long considering I spent 3 years and lots of fertility treatments to conceive DS due to PCOS. So just curious to any of you ladies who had trouble getting pregnant with #1 if it was any easier or harder to get preggo with #2?

Re: Easier to get pregnant 2nd time around?

  • It was for us. It took from August 2006 to April 2008 to get pregnant, and we had a loss after 9 months of trying for our first. With my current pregnancy, it took 3 or four months. We didn't do anything to increase our chances with the first, so I can't speak to that. I also used to follow a blog of a woman who conceived her first easily, but now has secondary infertility, so I imagine it just depends on each persons situation.

  • I got pregnant the first time one month after going off the pill. I had a complication free pregnancy and a healthy DD. It took over 3 years to get of with #2 (see sight for history). Everyone's journey is different.

  • I did have that experience.  I went through a couple IUIs with fertility drugs for #1.  After that we just didn't bother with birth control because we knew we'd want another eventually.  Well guess what...surprise pregnancy when #1 was 10 months old.

You just never know.  I've seen it go all ways when it comes to fertility issues.

  • It took two years to get pg with Ben. Five failed IUIs and I got pregant on a cancelled IVF cycle. With Cooper it was maybe four or five months and I got pregnant on the cycle we went back to the RE and I had an HSG and was doing the clomid challenge test.

  • Jill- thanks makes me feel better I don't think I want to even try IUI's again for #2. Hoping clomid can do it alone.
