Anyone doing Couch to 5k?

I just finished day 3, just curious if anyone else out there is doing this? I was in great shape prepreg and trying to slowly get myself back there.

Re: Anyone doing Couch to 5k?

  • I just finished W3D3 today. I was in awesome shape before I got married and had kids, but I have never in my life been a runner. I really like the program so far. As a matter of fact, I am going shopping tomorrow to get fitted for new running shoes because I really think that I am going to start to love running.

  • I am!  I started week 4 today.  Are you running outside or on a treadmill?  I'm on the treadmill.  I like how the website offered a printout just for treadmills with the times so I don't have to calculate when to walk/run.  I am not a runner by any means.  I have a hard time seeing myself running 30 minutes straight but I'm going to give it everything I got.

  • I am and really like it. I was never really a runner - before kids I did a lot of interval training, but never ran for very long. I'm getting to the point where I'm finding running addicting!
  • I did it about 2 years ago and I'll be doing it again once I feel up to working out after having my second.  I was never a runner before I started in January 2009 but I ran my first half marathon in January 2010 so it worked for me :)  I started on the treadmill, completed my first 5k in March of 2009, and started a half marathon training program I think in late spring/early summer.

I really went from hating running in high school/college/my 20's to loving it now.  I think because I started really slow and it was a nice break from work/baby.  I love running outside but our treadmill is more convenient for me, especially during winter, and I like watching tv while running :)

I just finished the 30 Day Shred and will start 6 Week 6 Pack 3x a week, run 3x and have 1 day "off".

I have never ran before ever, unless forced to in High School. I don't mind working out, but I have always hated to run. I am now on week 5, day 3 of C25k and I'm not hating it. I actually feel great after I finish running!

On my off days I do a 1 hour Zumba class (2x a week) and one day I either do a 30DS session, or Kettle Bell cardio inside out with Bob Harper DVD. The kettlebell workout totally kicks my butt.

  • I completed C25k last spring, and will start it again after LO is born (I was running through 20 weeks but that was as long as my doc would okay it).  It worked really well for me, prior to that I had never been able to do more than two miles at a time.  By the time I got pregnant I was running three to four miles at a time, which was a big deal to me.

I ran outside, but that's what I prefer.  I like the change of scenery.

ETA: I did a combination of Insanity and volleyball on off days.  I think I was taking one rest day a week at that time.

I do C25K on M-W-F. My schedule is kind of wonky because I either have to work out on my lunch break at work or when my kids are at their Dad's, so really, the days that I do C25K are the only thing that is consistent. I do aim to workout 5-6 days a week and lift heavy doing legs one day, chest/tri another and back/bi/shoulders and then I'll cross train for my cardio doing things like boxing, the elliptical, recumbent bike and I take an ab blast class 2-3 days a week.

  • Just started this week.  W1D2 will be tonight.  Bought the C25K app.  My sister is doing it with me.
